I was Tiger Woods for at least one shot...

Yes, yes indeed. I felt like Tiger Woods for a brief moment. Of course I'll explain:

Just back from vacation and thought I'd share this story. Got to play a few rounds with a friend in Florida on our vacation. Last Saturday he took me to a course in his hometown that I've played before and think is a wonderful course (Victoria Hills, DeLand, FL). Anyway, I did indeed get to be Tiger Woods for one shot...kind of.

Thankfully this shot happened on #17. Had an "ok" round going, but felt I'd p*ssed away a lot of stokes as always. Pulled my drive a little bit and knew I was headed to a wooden area. Discovered my ball was right smack in the middle of two small trees; one in front (directly in my line of course) and one behind me; maybe a gap of 6-7 feet. I mean you couldn't have placed the ball any better (or worse) between these trees. Hmmm....ok, what do you do now? Well, I've pulled this off before, so let's try it again: try and hit one MEAN hook around this tree-don't want to play backwards. And honestly, the position of the ball would have made it difficult to play it sideways or backwards. Just had to be there to understand.

Anyway, I line up thinking "what the hell?". Step away, start going through a few practice swings concentrating on what I need to do to pull off this wicked shot. Going for broke...so to speak.

So I address the ball, and honestly I hit a pretty amazing shot. Both of the guys I'm playing with are just amazed and congratulating me on what a superb shot this was.

So how did this shot make me Tiger Woods? Umm...anyone remember at The Masters this year when Tiger tried to hit a particular shot with his 4-iron? Yup...didn't quit stop it in time...and my response to my playing partners was "yeah thanks. It only cost me an 8-iron!". Sure enough, smashed the crap out of my shaft.

Luckily like I said it was on 17 and I didn't need the club for #18. Was going down to Naples the next day and found someone who reshafted it on the spot in Naples. So I got to play down there...with all 14 clubs. Guess the biggest difference is I had to pay for that out of my own pocket. No company shipped me 5 replacement sets! :)
