I have been searching for the last two seasons to get rid if my OTT with my irons. I have been seeing a PGA pro and have had little success. Everything always felt awkward and uncomfortable and unrepeatable. I just couldn't start the downswing with my hips. It was impossible. I tired swinging out to right field which worked sometimes but that didn't mean I was mechanically sound. I'd say lucky rather when I struck it well. Anyway, the last 3 range sessions (and 1 round yesterday) I've subscribed to the "Handle toward ball" approach on the downswing. Holy crap does this thought simplify things and get my hips moving simultaneously without me having to think about it. It always keeps my right elbow tucked close to my body on the downswing. I also use the handle on my backswing first starting at the ball and then down the target line and then back to the ball on downswing. I hit the ball effortlessly with a great amount of lag, superior compression, and new found power. I also used this method with my driver which I hit rather well and far (250-300) but it can get leaky at times. However with this new trigger I was straighter more often and had a more penetrating ball flight giving me great rollout. This has made my last three trips to the course more pleasurable than all my years and years of golf experiences combined. My question is does anyone else use this trigger method and if so what are/were your results. Btw I shot an 88 only because I'm still trying to get my alignment fixed now that I'm hitting the ball correctly. Plus my putting sucked a sack of sacks.

    • Day 550, May 5, 2024 Got a good hour in with a typical (for me) two-stick setup: pool noodle angled in front, yardstick on the ground angled 45° behind me.
    • Day 130: Cinco de Mayo Day 7/24 of Full Speed Spectrum training. Difficult training day after struggling to certify my warmup yesterday, and today. Finished 13 mph lower than my training speed on Thursday. Hope to hit some balls today.
    • Yeah, I think I misread that part. I read "in front of" and kinda skipped the rest.
    • We just completed our winter league (Jan 1 - April 30)  Our scoring was simple.  We used the 18 birdies app.  You get 1 point for every member of the league you beat head to head in an 18 hole round (no handicap).  You also get a point for completing the round.  Therefore 4 members play a round- winner of the round gets 4 points, runner-up gets 3, third gets 2, and last gets 1.  Points accumulate throughout the season.  You can play as many times as you want. Our winner accumulated 110 points while second was 102 and third was 97.  We had a total of 16 members in the league.  No issues whatsoever.  All about fun.
