I am a beginner golfer and wanted to purchase a new set of golf clubs.

Here is the issue:

I am only 4'9" tall and when I did get to a golf store, there were not any petite sets, but the guy wanted to make a sale, so I got regular size women's clubs. I have been able to play with them, but I have to make more adjustments then I see the other golfers I am with make.

I want to know:

can I get a juniors set -- I found a callaway junior set for 52-60" and thought that might be a good start to see if it makes a difference in my game. I am definitely older though than the recommended ages...:( Is it worth a try?  I found a few sets under $200.  Also, I don't have a lot of golf months as I am in Wisconsin so I don't get to golf year round!! :(

Whereas I found lower quality petite sets starting at that price.  Any suggestions/comments please.

Welcome to the forum @Jineen

Another solution would be to have the set trimmed down to fit you correctly.  A good golf shop should be able to do that.  They could do a quick fitting and trim the clubs to fit you.

You can also play your current set by just choking up on the grip (leave 1/2 to 1" of grip exposed after you place your hands) until you get them trimmed.

Junior sets may have too flexible a shaft for an adult.

    • Imma throw a dart in the dark as no one can tell what is happening once every fourth iron shot per your OP. This might sound counterintuitive but if ball position is too far back in the stance folks are known to throw down clubhead steeply. Could be happening. And yes, @billchaois not wrong; clubhead tends to bottom out wherever your pressure is. So slide forward (not sway), then hit.
    • Day 300 (!): did a stack session.
    • Day 24: Missed my weekly round due to a last minute little league makeup game this morning. Managed to get in some backswing rehearsals while grilling sausages for dinner, and then putted around the office/laundry room after dinner.
    • but I don't understand how that's possible you still want your head to stay back you don't want the upper body coming forward and plus I've tried feeling that and it made my fat shots worse and I then tend to pull and sky all my shots especially with driver because I get in front of it dont need force plates to see i finish on my left side
