Hey everyone,

The other day I saw a training program from the pro tour golf college website (www. protourgolfcollege .com/elite-golfer-improvement-system.html) and I was wondering if anyones tried it and have had success with it.  I don't want to drop $100 for something that isn't worth it.  By the way, if anyone has had success with some other type of program, I'd be curious to hear about it because I'm really serious about improving this coming season.  Thanks!

Edited after viewing the link proper.

Anything that has a plan set for a specific amount of time to achieve a large goal is likely a scam or hoax. I would be hesitant to commit $100 to something like this, especially since breaking 70 is something that not everyone is even physically capable of doing. That's not to say it isn't a good goal, but it's one that's unrealistic to expect to achieve in 12 weeks following a generic plan.

I would focus more on practicing as outlined in http://thesandtrap.com/t/58816/65-20-15-practice-ratios-where-to-devote-your-practice-time , which is a free resource that will help you figure out how to make sure you have a well rounded practice routine. If you want to be able to figure out what specifically you might want to work on, a copy of the book "Lowest Score Wins" ( http://thesandtrap.com/t/75141/lowest-score-wins-by-barzeski-and-wedzik ) is tremendously helpful. It gives generalized swing advice following the 5 Simple Keys system, but it focuses more on using statistics to show why certain skills are more valuable than others and teaching you how to play smarter golf. It has helped me tremendously (I was all-state this year in 4A golf) and everyone who I've personally recommended the book to has come back to me with glowing reviews of it.

Wow, what a scammy looking website they have.  All that talk about a fast track for high school and college age guys to get to the pro tour.  What was conspicuously missing was a list of their past students who have had success on pro tours.

And then there is the warning that the biggest destroyer of golf confidence is making a major swing change after the age of 20.  Good thing no one ever told Nick Faldo or Tiger about this.

As to other programs that are actually useful, if you are serious about improving your game make a swing thread here and you will get lots of free feedback from some of the best golf instructional minds around.  And if you like what you hear they offer video lessons through something called EVOLVR.  There are lots of folk here who have gone that route.  To get a flavor, go read some of the swing threads and you will see what kind of feedback people were given and how generous the folks here are with free instruction.

Welcome to the site and good luck with your plans for improvement.

But then again, what the hell do I know?
