Hope some of you guys can help with this one. I have a brand new 46" Project X Black shaft 5.5 flex and wondering how to get it to play about 5.7/5.8.

I have read various articles stating that if you tip trim shafts that it makes them play a little stiffer and reduces spin, does anyone of you well educated chaps or chapesses out there know how much to trim of the tip if this shaft to bring it up to about 5.7/5.8. I have tried contacting Project X shafts direct but with no joy. Should mention it going into a cobra bio cell so it will also have the required adaptor on the end.

Cheers

Welcome to the site @TheLeylandLump .  First, tip trimming works with shafts that do not have a tapered tip.  Looks like the Black is parallel, so you are OK there.

Below is the Project X trimming guide.  It doesn't appear to be very informative I am afraid.

I would recommend going to a competent fitter and have them do it for you.  It shouldn't cost too much if you already have the shaft.  I think you will be happier with the results.

Boogie,  Thanks for the info and would recommend using a club builder myself.  I should have mentioned that I'm happy to fit it myself as I have done others both irons and woods.  I fitted it with a Black 6.0, which is just a little too stiff for me, which is why I bought this to try and dial back a bit, as it was only £49GBP I was happy to try it without loosing too much if it doesn't suit.
