I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years

My current handicap index or average score is: 22.4  was much lower this last summer

My typical ball flight is: very low with hybrid through driver.

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is:  super low ball flight and hook.

6 Iron swing from behind.

Videos:

3 Hybrid swing from behind.

Driver from behind.  1st swing didn't feel right.  That is why I paused.

I went to a launch monitor a month ago and my launch angle was only 2 to 4 degrees with the driver.  I am hitting a lot of low hooks with my longer clubs, but I usually get a high ball flight with the 6 Iron.  Thanks for taking a look and for any pointers.  I just have no idea what I am doing wrong.  I have had 12 golf lessons over 3 years with a very well known teacher in this area.

Welcome to the site. Watch this video, turn both feet out and turn your hips a lot more. Copy the player on the right. You tend to have to have an "armsy" swing and don't turn your hips very much. This causes the left arm to bend towards the end of the backswing and why the club goes past parallel. This requires a lot of timing and compensations to hit the ball solidly.

Wow, what a difference a day makes.  Went out to the range today, took mvmac's advice, and started to turn my hips more.  I was hitting the driver 80% of the time straight and high.  Most of my drives carried 230 yards with no wind and 46 degrees outside.  Feels weird though, but much more powerfull.  Will try to post some videos tomorrow.  Thank you so much.

Yeah it's going to feel weird for a little while until it becomes your new normal.

    • Day 292: light day today. Mirror work, working on getting my hips more open in the downswing.
    • Day 135 (27 Apr 24) - played Bradford Creek today while waiting for the missus fly in from her extended visit with the grands.  Good day to stay focused as it was a hurry up (groups pressing from behind) and wait (groups taking their time ahead)…a good day to stay mentally in the game - play the shot and not get frustrated in the waiting…
    • Day 122: 4/27/24 Supposed to be a Stack training day but I was beat after yard work today. Practiced chipping and putting at The Creek. The practice green is pretty slow but the session went well.
    • Went to the range today and was cursing myself when I got there as I realized I forgot my phone. I added an earlier wrist hinge to the short backswing I was using last time practicing and ball strikes were really good for the most part. I'm heading back to Boston Thursday to see friends and family and have a couple of rounds planned so I'm hoping to keep this feeling.  Yesterday morning I weighed in at 232. My goal had been 230 but maybe now it's 220. I'll have to think about that. I feel so much better without the extra 90 lbs. from 2 years ago. Still a softl slightly less protruding belly so it might be time to go hard on eating better. Work in progress.
