I am considering purchasing a couple of hybrids to replace my 3 and 4 irons. Any feedback on Nickent hybrids? Golfsmith has a good deal on them right now ( http://www.golfsmith.com/products/NICK100 ). I thought I read somewhere that these hybrids are the most common hybrids on the Nationwide tour right now.

Beware of old dudes with old clubs and new grips.

I saw the same deal. I was wondering if these were some low end model or just ones that were being replaced with a new version. $60 seems like a great deal.

Unless you're looking for a good deal, you may want to wait for a little bit until the new model come out. I went to Golf Galaxy last night for a lesson, and afterwards I inquired about getting a Ping G5 16° and 25° hybrid to complement my 22°. My instructor told me that I should hold off for the new Nike hybrid they're introducing in the late fall this year. From what he's heard, he claims the new design will be a huge step forward in improvement over anything else on the market. He also said that Nike will be coming out with their new ball at the upcoming Target sponsored PGA tour event. He believes this will be far superior to the Titleist ProV1. I don't remember the name of it, but it will bear a red Nike swoosh and will supposedly go 30 yards longer than the titleist ProV1, but with the same soft feel.

I bought the Nickent that you are referring to because it was a great deal. Actually for the performance that I am getting as a two iron replacement (17 degrees) it was the deal of the century. This club is so easy to hit even off marginal lies that I almost feel guilty. It is slightly longer than a two iron, has a higher trajectory, and lands softly to hold greens (so the distance is about the same). It is a go to club for short par 4s. You will not be sorry if your get this club.

I have the Nickent Genex 17* and a 3DX 20*. They both are very easy to hit and are fantasic clubs. I think the Genex is a steal at $60.

This is for the prior model, the 3DX. They are currently on the 4DX, of which I have the 15.5* 2+ IW. They are a quality club. If you hit your irons better than your woods, you'll want the IW, but if you hit your woods better, then you'll want the UT.

Putters: Scotty Cameron  35" (Several of the flow neck blade variety)

Ball: Bridgestone B330-RX and Srixon Z-Star

Bag: Nike Performance Carry

    • Possibly, deffo trying to weaken my right hand somewhat. Left hand I believe is fine as I'm mostly fingers there with grip under the fat pad. But my lesson tomorrow will hopefully shed some light
    • I'm not sure.  What could this do that any of the documentaries on this dude haven't already done? I will say, I remember this unfolding in real life back in the day. My sister and I watched this as it happened. Then we heard about the fact that the studio wasn't going to pay him. But then they finally did pay him.
    • Could also be how you align your wrists and rotate your forearms. Not sure you are re-gripping the club. There is nothing noticeable in the videos. I do agree with the grip being very strong in the right hand. Also, maybe too much in the palm of the left hand.
    • First one. If it’s not some bs “mistake” like I should have made that 12’ putt for birdie and actually correctable then it’s a learning experience and it means I’m good enough to win. I don’t play the club championships at my county courses because the best I can hope for is the second option and I kind of don’t see the point in that.
