Had no idea Palmer would be so high on this list, higher than Nicklaus. Thought B Watson would have more in endorsements with his 2 green jackets. The other Watson I thought would be much higher on the list based on off course earnings. Stacy Lewis places higher than Wie. Davis Love very marketable - must be dem Polo ads.

Quote:
Just as Tiger Woods is not the dominant player at 39 he was at 24, he's also no longer the runaway No. 1 as a cash machine. While Woods has topped the Golf Digest 50 All-Encompassing Money List all 12 years of its existence, his advantage this year was barely more than $5 million over No. 2 Phil Mickelson and $6 million over Rory McIlroy. Not exactly chump change, but certainly not what it was in the 2010 ranking (the last not impacted by the perfect storm of scandal, injury and swing changes) when his lead was an astronomical $80 million. The other thing of note in this year's ranking is that those chasing Woods are younger and more talented than ever. Of the top 50 players, 18 are 30 or younger, including No. 3 McIlroy, No. 6 Billy Horschel, No. 12 Rickie Fowler, No. 16 Jordan Spieth and No. 19 Martin Kaymer.  While Woods will likely always be a top earner even after his competitive days are gone, it is no longer a sure thing he will always be No. 1.

Arnie was a far better businessman than Jack.  Jack nearly went bankrupt a couple of times (and would have been put into bankruptcy if he hadn't been Jack Nicklaus)  due to terrible decisions, being taken advantage of by "friends" and foolishly signing personal guarantees.  Jack spells it all out in his 1996 autobiography.  He would probably have been at the top of that list if he hadn't gotten his nose out of joint and fired Mark McCormick, which would have protected himself from himself.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

    • It's going to be very difficult for the 2026 Masters to match the 2025 edition for storyline. I honestly don't know that anyone else in the field could match the story of Rory finally winning after so many years and the blow ups over the years, not to mention the career slam being completed. No one this year that I can think of is remotely close to that kind of story. Combine that with the attempts at blow ups last year (Double on the 1st, 13, 18 on first try) and the stunningly good shots that he hit in the final round (7, 15, 17, 18 on second try).  Full gamut: https://www.masters.com/en_US/watch/2025-04-13/17445961638226475/every_single_shot_from_rory_mcilroys_final_round.html
    • Let's kick off the 2026 Masters talk with… a look back at 2025 (coming soon):
    • Wow, so Europe named Luke for a third term. Luke Donald named 2027 European Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald named 2027 European Ryder Cup Captain Who will the U.S. name? I hope not Tiger Woods.
    • I am playing Arrowhead for the first time and I am pumped.  What are some things that I need to make sure and appreciate, for those that have played it before and love it? It has been a pretty dry winter so I am expecting rough to be forgiving which is nice and it will be playing much easier than it does in the late summer (I am assuming based on other colorado courses).  What should I make sure to not miss?
