So I wondered everyone's thoughts on this driver, I broke my RBZ Stage 2 Last week and my buddy has leant me his Cally diablo black whilst he's on holiday, similar spec (Stiff 9.5 degree) as my previous driver but this thing just feels so damn good.

I know its getting on for 5 years old now, & thus I may loose some distance seen in modern clubs but the comfort I've felt with this club has led me to look to buy one for myself (or convince my bud to sell me his club!) I also think it looks great with a complete black finish (I never could get on with the white driver It just looked far to flash for my eye).

Ideally I'd love to go and look at a Ping G25/30 or the new Callaway XR but for the meantime finding my feet in the world of golf I can pick up the Callaway on eBay for about £65/$90 used and on one site about £90/$140 brand new so I wondered if any of you guys have it in your bag or currently are gaming this club and what your thoughts were?

Cheers Guys,

Matt

The used price you quote can get you an SLDR or Big Bertha from last year in Mint condition through the preowned sites of the various manufacturers when they have sales. So it's not like you're saving a bundle by going with an older driver. Try some others to see if you like anything else; there's no huge reason why this would be the best driver for you at your price point. That said, don't think that you'll be giving up a ton of distance with it, either. Manufacturers have been tinkering around the edges of the limits for a few years now.

Dom's Sticks:

Callaway X-24 10.5° Driver, Callaway Big Bertha 15° wood, Callaway XR 19° hybrid, Callaway X-24 24° hybrid, Callaway X-24 5i-9i, PING Glide PW 47°/12°, Cleveland REG 588 52°/08°, Callaway Mack Daddy PM Grind 56°/13°, 60°/10°, Odyssey Versa Jailbird putter w/SuperStroke Slim 3.0 grip, Callaway Chev Stand Bag, Titleist Pro-V1x ball

You might like it for the look, for the shape of the face, for the sound, for the weight, for the shaft length, or for the set-up.  Or all of the above.  Probably not many other drivers share all of those attributes, but poring over the manufacturer specification sheets might help you narrow down the options.

One other option that might be the closest to a Callaway DOT is the Callaway FTiz Tour.  I think it might be a little more forgiving (and makes a neat "thwack" sound at impact), yet shares many of the same attributes listed above.  Of course, people like them so used ones aren't so cheap.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
