Burner or Hibore xl ??

As a golf club salesman I would recommend the HiBore...the weight is put in the back of the club, creating a higher MOI(Moment of Inertia)...this MOI is usually higher than the Burners...the Burner is a great club though....go to your local shop and test one out...

I have a Burner a hit it well,but don't get much distance for some reason. During a fitting session the other day the club pro suggested that I try the Cobra M Speed he said they have the hottest head out and should add some distance. He didn't have the correct specs for me to try correctly. I was thinking that the HiBore and Cobra were fairly similar in looks, and I to try to hit the HiBore at some point.

I switched to the Hi Bore XL this year from a Taylormade driver and havent looked back since. I hit the Hi Bore longer, with a much better ball flight.

going to try the hibore xl with the red shaft, I'll report back. did you go 8.5 or 9.5 ?

I went with 9.5 with the red shaft. At the fitting I was told to go with red 9.5 or gold 8.5. I liked the feel of the red better.

There are plenty of guys out there with boring clubs like the R5 that are absolutely crushing the ball. Looking for that elusive magical club that will tack 25-50 yds on to your distance is futile.

BURNER, a guy at my club hits an 8.5 xstiff 340+

I hit my 10.5 stiff 300 regularly.

I switched from the R5. I know the shaft had a lot to do with it but the face on the Hi Bore is definitely hotter

tried the 9,5 with the red shaft, was a hooking machine. I truly believe that it was this club, since I had one with a gold shaft and the face was not nearly as shut. What do you expect its made in china LOL prolly at the same factory as the dog food. Anyway I'm still looking. Going to toss up a post on the nike square, RD has a sale on them for 299. seems to work for KJ lol i'll report back

      I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

      Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
