All of a sudden I can't make good contact with my hybrid when I hit off a tee on a long par 3.  Weirdest thing.  I can pipe it consistently out of the fairway and most of the time of the rough with a reasonable lie, but the last few times I've played that hole and hit hybrid, I've either toe'd it, hit it fat, or popped it up.  I tee it the same height I do all my irons: just the head of the tee sticking up out of the ground.  For reference, it's the same height I tee my 3W and I haven't it that poorly in weeks.

Any ideas come to mind, or should I just say f*ck it and hit that one off the deck regardless?

From the sound of everything, it certainly seems like it's just a mental thing. Maybe hit it off the deck for a bit until you get a comfort level back. Then try to tee it up slightly again. Also, double check your setup at the tee. Maybe you are setting up differently than when you hit it in the fairway?

Yeah, I'm betting it creeps forward in the stance when put on a tee.

I trick myself by making a small mound of sand or dirt and put the ball on that, on the tee box only.  Then hit the hybrid. Looks more realistic, and ultra traditional.

Might work for others.

've had that problem in the past. I find that my lead shoulder is opening too early. Keep the shoulder in a little more and make sure you're hitting a descending blow and follow through. Works for me.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
