I am looking for recommendations on a good apple watch app that I can use to keep score while golfing and maybe some simple stats(i.e. putts, GIR). I was hoping to use my apple watch to keep score so that I can leave my iphone in my golf bag and not touch it for the round(right now i keep my phone in my pocket while I play).  I currently use the Nike 360 golf app to keep score and basic stats.  I love that app for my needs, but unfortunately they do not have an apple watch app yet.  The only apps that I have found that can keep score on the apple watch are golshot and golflogix, however the apple watch app only works if you have their $30/year subscription.  I was hoping for a free app, but has anyone tried golfshot, or golflogix on the apple watch and could provide a recommendation if it is worth the subscription?

Hole19 has been great. Free (for now) and better than golfshot on the apple watch, at least in my opinion. Though note, I use the grandfathered in "Golfshot Classic" so if you paying for the subscription, it might be better.

I like paying for software, so the fact that Hole19 is all free right now makes me nervous, but I'm not complaining.

I just logged on to ask the same question, and found this thread so am posting here instead...

I too am looking for an Apple Watch app.  I've been using Hole 19, and it's ok, but I've had issues with it:

* On two different rounds, it locked up so that I couldn't enter scores.  I could move between holes, but the plus/minus buttons to enter hole scores didn't work, either on the watch or on the iPhone.

* I prefer to use just the watch to enter info.  Maybe I haven't discovered how yet (is there a manual that covers the watch interface?  I can't find one), but I don't see how to move to the next hole after finishing a hole.  The only way I can see to do it is to swipe from the left to view all the holes, and then click on the next hole.  This is tedious.

* Is there a way on the phone to tell it before you hit a shot, and when you arrive at your ball?  It would be nice to use the app to track distances for different clubs.

* There doesn't seem to be much in the way of stats.  For example, for my home course, I'd like to track GIR per hole, puts per hole, etc - to help me strategize how to play different holes.  Or do things like tracking average score when I use a driver vs a 3 wood off the tee, etc.

* It would be nice if it could automatically upload my scores to GHIN.  Is there any app that does that?

So some of these issues are with the app in general, but my main goal is to find the app with the easiest to use and most powerful watch interface.  I don't want to be messing with my phone during a round, but wouldn't mind doing it on my watch.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
