What's best shaft for callaway x hot 2 for 12 year old junior golfer . Swing speed is 80. Currently hits callaway x hit with senior light shaft. Any info I would really appreciate . He hits around 200 to 220. He has closed so it's 8.5 on loft. Hits a small fade sometimes but nothing out of control . What would be next step for next set up for him?

The X2 Hot stock shaft was the Aldila Tour Blue made for Callaway is soft to flex as compared to manufactured shafts from shaft companies  in comparable flexes.

It depends on your 12 yr old and his swing.

I believe the X2 Hot uses the opt-fit adapter.

At 80, he is on the verge of a generic regular flex, and if he has a quick transition or releases late, a regular flex will fit. I assume he will get faster, so a decent R flex. You can probably find a Tour Blue in R flex on ebay. It is a friendly shaft. The next question is weight - for a 12 year old, I'd say the 55g.

Another shaft to consider is the Bassara 42g that Callaway uses in R flex and used in the V Series -- for a 12 yr old. A lot of people like it.  You can probably find it on eBay. I

Sounds good I will look into both those shafts. Where I was having trouble is trying to figure out if he needs light reg men's flex or just regular or should I be going with senior Felix or ladies. Seems like big difference in weight between 55g and 42. What's the general rule of thumb on weight? Do anyone have book out there with correct weight. I'd like to build club from scratch for him but wanna make sure it all checks out with proper shaft and weight

Men are using the Bassara E Series at the mid-40g...  so it depends on the shaft and its design...  more recent, lighter shafts are holding up. I use a 52 stiff flex in a fairway ... so light shafts can equal more speed.

Regular or Senior should be your question -- depends on your player, as I said previously, quick transition and late release means go with the stronger flex.

At 80, I'd say R Flex, and I assume he will get faster as he plays and grows longer arms.

Also may depend on how much cutting you will do at the top ... taking out 3-4 inches from the butt takes out part of the stiff section in a firm butt section.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
