I've been Playing Golf for: 5 years

My current handicap index or average score is:18.8 trending to 19.0 at August 1st revision

My typical ball flight is: Straight, draw, fade

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Slice

A little bit about me and my golf game over the last 5 years.  A coworker of mine got me interested in the humbling game of golf in the summer of 2010.  I spent hours upon hours at my local driving range trying to figure out how to hit the ball.  I joined TST in 2011 and have basically taught myself how to play the game through this website and some youtube videos.  I have taken lessons over the years and thought I was progressing well.  I would play every Saturday with 4 guys in a two man team scramble and I was winning money so I figured I was pretty decent at the game.  It wasn't until this year when I joined Burlington Country Club here in NJ that I realized how bad I actually was at the game.  With the help of this website I have pretty much cured my OTT swing and now either have straight ball flight or a slight draw.  However, sometimes I try to swing out of my shoes and a fade/slice come back into the picture.  The problems I am facing on now are fat and thin shots.  My instructor at the Country Club has given me drills to work on to try to eliminate these problems in my swing.  His drills are the same drills that are mentioned on TST just about every day.  I have purchased and read The Lowest Score Wins and I know exactly where my problems are with my game.  A typical golf hole goes like this for me: Beautiful drive down the fairway(not sure of distance, don't particularly care as long as its playable).  Second shot either blocked right, chunky or thin.  Third shot either chip on and 2 putt or its either blocked right chunky or thin depending on distance from green.  I mainly posted this video to check my swing path to make sure I completely cured myself of the OTT swing.  I have other videos from the same day and will try to get them.  Camera angle is horrible as I am using my phone sitting on top my golf bag.  Looking forward to hearing everyones thoughts, critiques, and possible changes/fixes.  Thank you, Chris

Sorry, I can't tell anything by that camera angle. It was set too close to you.

Try to set up the camera angles as in this post.  You want the camera to line up with your toe line on the down the line view and about hand high at set up.

Thanks guys. I'm working on getting newer and better video. I mainly wanted to do that long write up being as I have been a member here for quite some time, I figured I might as well just share my trials and tribulations. Thanks again to everyone.

    • That pre-swing routine tho.. 🤓
    • He's been a top 100 golfer for almost his entire career, yeah. That's not easy to do, especially as you get into your 40s. And, all without any real "superpowers." He's not incredibly great at any one thing. He's very well rounded.
    • Always been a fan of Rose. He seems like a decent human being first of all. When there's some chatter at the tee he says "Quiet guys, please. Thank you" in a friendly tone. He's always given the impression of being a stand-up guy, supportive of his colleagues and competitors. A friendly face. His performance as a golfer is more about consistency through his entire career than the large number of wins. He's always around, but had the potential to win more. This Masters they made a point out of him having almost twice as many lead/co-lead rounds without a win than the next guy on the list. 11 wins on the PGA Tour, 11 on the European Tour and the single major, but a lot of top ten finishes. Erik's comparison to Adam Scott is on point, as the stats demonstrates in the images below. Starting their careers during the reign of Tiger didn't make things easier, but there are few players with more than 15 wins on the PGAT the last ~30 years. I only counted eight from this list. I'd love to see him win at Augusta. Rory is one of very few players I'd pick over Rose.
    • I didn't know until this past week that Rose holds the record for the most times having the lead after day one of The Masters.  He must really love those Day 1 pin placements.
    • I think Rose is great. Much respect to his consistency, professionalism, work off-course and a never give-up attitude. But I have mixed feelings about his Masters campaign. Afterall, the dude came within a putt of ruining the perfect ending to probably the greatest unfinished story in golf. 😱
