Forum,

I love golfing as I am a member of this board.  I will be on vacation OCT 11-15 and hope there is someone in this area that would like to meet up and go golfing.  Price doesn't matter, and I will buy lunch before/after.  I don't mind playing alone, but love to meet someone new that knows the areas best courses.  My fiancée doesn't golf, so was going to send her on a spa/massage/mani/pedi day while I went golfing.

Let me know if you want to join up, meet up, or if you have suggestions on a cant miss course while I am down there.

P.S. This will be on of my final rounds before I have my hip surgery, so no golfing for a few months!!

Hey there,  Sorry I don't live in Florida but I would offer a couple course suggestions.

If you have the ability and time to get to Streamsong Red or Blue, they are some of the finest courses I've played in Florida.  Its about 60min to 1:20 minutes from Tampa airport.  Its a resort so the fiancee could enjoy a spa day while you play some amazing golf... but be prepared to walk as its heavily preferred that you walk not ride. BTW its a bit on the pricey side but you won't be disappointed.  The drive to the course may leave you scratching your head as its in the middle of nowhere!

For a value course thats also about 60 min from Tampa is Sarasota National Golf Course.  The value for this golf is really good and the few times I've played it they have discounted my rates when I mention I'm an out-of-towner and member of a Troon Course in Colorado.  Earlier this summer my junior and I played 18 w/ cart & 2 logo'd balls for $35.  They didn't charge me for my kid.

The best course in Tampa I've played is the TPC Tampa.  Its what u expect for a TPC course.  It will run you about $100 this time of year.

North of Tampa is the World Woods Course.  I've never played but I've had it recommended by many locals and visitors to the area.  I think its around $50 this time of the year.

Hope this helps and get to Streamsong if its in the budget and can fit your itinerary.

Where are you staying?  I may be up for a round, depending on work and whether my wife has plans for me on Columbus Day!  Let me know!

    • Day 316 - More swings, full backswing and full finish.
    • Day 132: did some mirror work while watching TV. Worked on backswing stuff primarily.
    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
    • Day 208 (26 Nov 24)- Opted to walk 9 today (was the back nine as they had a huge group going off the front) but instead of it being persimmons and blades, I had the regular gamers but made it a TBWB (two ball-worst ball) round.  This really challenges on several fronts - ball striking to be as consistent as possible, course management from non-optimal lies and keeping your head in it as it can be depressing to nail a shot on line-on target and the second rattles the trees right and it’s over 50 yards back and that’s the one you have to play.  The goal was to be no worse than bogie overall (+9).  Finished the round exactly on the number with some solid recoveries, no penalty strokes and only one 3-putt.
