I always wondered if golf brands would agree to this - a tournament pitting company vs. company vs. company where each brand would choose two to four pros (for example Nike would be represented by Tiger, KJ Choi, etc...and Callaway would be represented by Phil, Chuck Howell III, etc...)

Anyone else see this as a fun event to watch?

P.S...I know a lotta players mix and match their clubs (or even have custom made clubs with a logo slapped on em) so please dont reply saying that.

:P
In the bag Nike SasQuatch SuMo 10.5* {} Tiger Shark Hammerhead 3w, 5w, 3h {} Nickent 3DX Pro 5i-PW {} Titleist Vokey 250.08* {} Cleveland CG11. 54* {} Callaway X-Tour 58.11* {} Carbite Tour Classic Putter {} Titleist ProV1x

I think this would be very interesting, but on the topic of mixed bags, I think a fun twist would be you HAVE to play with clubs only made by the company that you are playing for. I mean think about it, Tiger would have the Scotty, I wonder how he would do?

Here's what I play:

Titleist 907 D2 10.5* UST ProForce V2 76-S | Titleist 906F4 18.5* Aldila VS Proto "By You" 80-S | Titleist 585H 21* Aldila VS Proto "By You" 80-S | Titleist ZB 4-PW TTDG S300 | Bob Vokey Spin Milled Oil Can 54.10 | Bob Vokey Spin Milled Oil Can 60.08 | Scotty Cameron Red X5 33" |

Dont you mean 'Tiger would NOT have the Scotty'?

From the manufacturers perspective, every tournament is this.

Yeah, buuuuut a lotta players showcase more than one brand (clubs, hats, bags, etc. often are all different)...I guess it would just be cool to see Nike vs. Ping vs. Callaway vs. Taylor Made vs. Cobra vs. Titleist vs. Cleveland....................

Not sure I see the point? Would you like to play with only 1 brand of clubs? Not many in this forum do either? But if I had to I would pick TM!

LETS GO YANKS!!!

How that working out for ya?

lol...say what you will...yankees - 26...bosox - hrmmmmmmmm, il let you fill that one in.

I guess the point is most people will point to one brand as their favorite even though they might mix them up in the bag.

Won't go down that road...yanks/sox...it would not be any fun if one were to really sink...greatest rivalry in sports! nuf said

If you were to pick one club as the one you could not part with, then had to only play that brand, which club...which brand? I like that better....for me it's my irons, all TM I guess for me...but would hate to part with my two wedges.

I think it would be fun to watch the pro's playing with equipment that wasnt their usual. Tiger paired with Erni, and they switch bags on the first tee. Clubs dont fit, they look funny because they arent used to them etc.

If that were to happen, my money would be on Tiger, no matter who's clubs he had. Well, maybe not Phil's. Tiger is good, but playing lefty is a lot to ask of anybody. Then again, he would probably still break 80. There is nobody better at fixing his game mid round.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
