One of the nice things about both the Presidents Cup and the Ryder Cup is that we get to see some good players who do not come to "the States" very often. Remember when Jaimee Donaldson starred for the Euros?

I have a new favorite golfer----Thongchai Jaidee. He is 46 years old and weighs only 139 lbs. He is from Thailand, and was an Army paratrooper. They showed his swing in sequence in the December  issue of "Golf Digest", and it looks good. The description of his game fits mine-----hits it straight and therefore, hits greens and fairways, has a good short game, and does good course management.

Then you'd like KC Choi.   He is also a late starter, picking up golf after 14.   He was training to be a weigh lifter before golf.

Thank you. Your post jogged my memory. Didn't KJ win the Players' Championship?

He did.  That was his biggest win.  But unlike Thongchai, he is on a declining path.

That is too bad. I have always liked him because of the way he related to the gallery and the manner he conducted himself during interviews.

Seems like a good model to follow for older golfers. Whatever he's doing, it's not straining his body. Which in the PGA profile has him at 5'9" 160 pound and in interviews seems to state that he's only 5'7" 140 pounds?

288 yard drives, though.

I also didn't understand one comment when googling his name where he had no putting yips over at 40 years old. Does this happen to many other golfers after turning 40?

Thanks for bringing him up. . .

I love "late starters" like Orville "Sarge"Moody (who won the 1969 US Open after serving in the Army),  Larry Nelson (who served in Vietnam before learning how to play golf and then won a US Open at Oakmont and 2PGAs) and Walter Zembreski (who was a steel worker before winning on the Champions Tour!
