Well, we had a course with a grass range, but the course closed it. There's another one, but the traffic to get there can be a real mess. It may be different on the north side of Seattle. I don't know, but that's a 65 mile drive each way, so there's not much of a choice within reasonable driving distances. Country club membership is not in the budget unless I win Powerball tonight.

So, you're a newbie.  I listen to Michael Medved a lot and he talks about the traffic mess in Seattle from time to time.  That's where he's based.

I guess I'm lucky to have a real nice practice facility near my house.  They have mats but only use them when they want to give the range a break.  They take good care of the range (fill divots with fertilized sand, keep it smooth). 

Plus I have an exec course almost with walking distance where I can practice chipping and putting.  I don't play execs.  Plus the course I usually play is under 45 minutes and has a nice practice facility.  Only grass on the range, but it can get pretty bumpy.
