Comparing irons

I currently shoot in the mid 90's and I am changing my swing, grip and basic techniques. I am looking at Mizuno's JPX800 HD's ( GS95 R300 REGULAR FLEX STEEL) vs the Mizuno MP H4's (REGULAR FLEX KBS TOUR C-TAPER LITE). I like the look of the MP's as well as the long irons acting like Hybrids. Any advice or opinions appreciated.

Definitely go somewhere like Golf Galaxy, Golfsmith or other location where you can try different iron sets / hybrid combinations, hit balls and compare results on a launch monitor. 

You say you like the LOOK of the Mizuno clubs.  IMO, the 'look' of a club doesn't have much to do with the performance of the club which should be your prime concern in selecting new irons.

Try as many as 4-6 iron manufacturers clubs, hit balls with a qualified club fitter, measure the results and select the club that performed best.

Just before X-Mas I bought a new set of Ping G30 Irons - 4 to SW.  I tell ya, I can't wait to hit a brand new Titleist Pro V with just one of those irons. 

I've heard really good things about the Mizuno JP's and the MP's you are thinking of purchasing.

Before I bought the Pings I struggled between Mizuno's, Titleists or Pings, but being a Ping man most my life I had to go with the brand I was most familiar with.

In my opinion,  most of the selection decision when it comes to irons boils down to what brand we prefer most, and marketing has a lot to do with what we end up choosing.

The one thing I would recommend is getting a professional fitting done.  Getting the "lie" adjusted to your swing is pretty important for your irons.

If you're going to spend the money, get fitted.  One thing that has to be determined is if regular flex shafts are right for you.  I've been playing for over 40 years and I may never go to regular flex.  For me, shot dispersion suffers.  I'll be 59 in 2 weeks (Happy Birthday to me), and I play stiff steel shafts.

Bottom line is swing the regular flex and swing the stiff.  See what produces a more consistent shot.

PS, I got turned off by Mizuno a long time ago.  Hated the feel of the T-Zoids.  The newer models do look pretty good though.  Swing a few models and see.

Personally I would then wait until those changes are more well established.
