hello fellow trappers,

I am new to the site...  I have searched all over the web for answers and thought I would turn to fellow junkies of the sport for answers lol.  Taylormade came out with the Rocketbladez and Speedblade irons with the speed slot in the base of the club.  Then they have released the same clubs in the HL(high loft) series ...but... they do not have a speed slot in the base of the club and am trying to find out why this is... all help help is greatly appreciated...

Hello fellow Duffers...

Well since its still snowing in my neck of the woods ...I spent the afternoon at our golf superstore (Golftown) and played on the simulator to see if there was a difference to having a speed slot on the base of the club or not !!!!  I taped up a Rocketbladez (with the speed slot) and same in high loft version that doesn't have the speed slot... and also taped up an Aeroburner that has the speed slot.  After 2 hours of swing time I am totally convinced that the speed slot doesn't make a difference in yardage.  I was consistent with all 3 clubs in distance.  I was hitting the 4 iron 210 yards and the 6 iron was 183 yards which is 20 yards further than I was hitting my old iron set of Ping i3's.  Couple more weeks till we can get outside to hit the driving range and get my Rocketbladez HL irons dialed in ...
