Sorry guys, I know there are a lot of these treads.
But I do need some advice.

I'm in the market of getting a new set of irons.
I had my pro did a simple Ping fitting session with me during my lesson.
Basically he only put impact tapes at the sole, and looked at where the markings are and the ball flight.
In the end, he determined that I need standard length, 2 deg flat, and regular flex.

I'm pretty much decided to get Nickent's 3DX Pro.
So I was wondering whether I should go through another fitting session on launch monitor in Golf Town (major Canadian golf store) or just order away?

Have you actually hit any balls with these clubs vs the clubs that your pro used for the club fit? You didn't post your handicap, so I am guessing you are just getting started in golf or at least starting to get serious about it. Getting a club fit from your pro is a great first step which a lot of people fail to do. If you like the looks of the clubs I would at least test drive a club even if it is indoors before dropping some $$$. Clubs are a personal taste kinda thing. If you feel comfortable with the club fit and like the clubs go for it. Good luck.

Get fit again for the Nickets if you will be getting them. Not all of the manufacturers default specs are the same, so you may need the Pings 2 flat but the Nickents may be 1 flat by default in comparison to the pings.

I would definatley get fit though. And make sure they do it right, some "PROs" will try to kind of slide by and not do a 100% fitting job if you dont know what is usually involved.

For instance I was at Golf Galaxy and asking the again "pro" about fitting me for the pings. He said, 'well we have this color chart so we can go by that', again I asked, so are you going to fit me for them? Again he referenced the chart, I referenced my wish to not pay him $50 to read a chart for me and told him I will be going someplace else for my clubs.

Thanks, Gapwedge.

I've hit most of the clubs I would considered buying. My pro suggested me to get i5 because they only do ping. I haven't compared them side to side though. They feel similar as far as I remember but I do like the look of those nickents. My concern is more about what shafts I should go with these clubs.

Thanks, Wolverine.

We did an ok fitting session as I mentioned in my original post. Even though he didn't put any impact tape on the club face, he could probably see with the ball flights. I'll watch out for chart readers when I get fit with Golf Town. Thanks

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
