So I've had my Callaway XR irons just over a year and already had the 5 iron face crack. A replacement was sent out which was also cracked on arrival so the store sent it right back. The replacement I got has now cracked again but in the hosel area. The store are going to send the whole set back now but would it be my swing that could cause this? Bit weird it's happened on a 5 iron twice. They're 1.5 longer and 2 flat in stiff if that helps?

I doubt it's your swing unless you're hitting stones instead of golf balls.  Was your initial purchase and subsequent replacements from the same shop? If so, it could mean several things.

First, if your transactions originated from the same store, it could mean you received a bad batch of clubs.

Second, if your transactions originated from the some store, it could mean you bought counterfeit clubs.

Keep us posted.

I was fitted by callaway for them and it was definitely not a fake set. My local store are really good. My 4 wood xr also has a deep score or crack in the head so going to put that back with them. Unsure whether it is cracked for the wood tho. Kind of a curve score on it.

That line does look strange.  Since you've received replacements and they've "cracked" as well, it might be something you're doing.  But it does look strange.  Although, that picture may not be a crack.  It could be a deep scratch IMO.

I think a crack would appear much darker in color since the material has split and the light would cast a shadow.  This, to me, looks like a deep scratch rather than a crack.  Again, IMO.

Process of elimination:

How do you to treat your clubs (roughly or gently)?

How do you transport your clubs?

Are there a lot of pebbles/rocks/sediment where you play or practice?

Do you lean on your clubs while waiting for your turn (like a cane)?

Does anyone else use your clubs or handle them (children/friends)?

Etc., etc.

Hope this helps.

Well the weird thing is that when the first replacement was sent out, I didn't even see it in the store as it arrived cracked too and they complained to them. I don't do anything out of the ordinary with them and aren't hit off rocks etc.

When you received your "cracked" replacement was it at the store, and was it still in it's shipping container/box?

Or did they simply, after some time had passed, hand you a another club (no shipping box) with the same problems?

I don't want to sound accusatory, but this situation raises my eyebrows. Even the best retailers in the world (not necessarily golf stuff) have been known to be nefarious when it comes to replacing inferior goods.  In my personal experience, I had to replace my newly purchased iPhone 6 three times because of screen distortions (a noticeable and large dark spot in the display).  But the Apple store insisted it wasn't a problem despite my objections and their explicit recognition that there was a dark spot. It's cheaper to fight the customer than replace an expensive product because there's really nothing to lose for them trying to do so.

Good luck, and I sincerely hope you get this problem solved to your satisfaction.

When the original replacement came, I didn't even see it as it went right back and I got the new one a few days later but it wasn't in the transport box.

    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
