I've been Playing Golf for: 2yrs, on and off. Just getting back after 9 yr hiatus
My current handicap index or average score is: 30+
My typical ball flight is: Slight fade/slice. Working on draw, or straight
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Either topping the ball, or fade/slice

Videos:

So I've been trying to work on my forearm rotation, but I'm still "flipping" or "scooping". At least it appears that way. I'm also lifting my left foot, which is odd as I don't get that sensation during my swing. Since working on my forearm rotation, I'm frequently getting a snap hook. This shot happened to be a very straight 8-iron shot. Thanks for looking!

Hi @Gregnow welcome to TST. Usually for My Swing threads we like folks to have been a member of the community a little before posting their swing here. The idea being you contribute to the forum your ideas, thoughts, things you've learned, etc. and then you can take the advice from the members here on your swing. Sort of a give and take kinda thing.

But since there is no official rule like this I will offer my advice from your video.

First thing is you need to get a down the line video as well as the face on view. I cannot tell for sure that your camera was in the right place for the face on view you posted. Also I recommend an investment in a tripod. The purple line in the second picture is to put a marker on something stationary in the scene so that if the camera moves I can tell. Here is a great article on filming your swing.

First thing I notice is your ball position (this is assuming the angle is correct, if the angle is off this is a parallax error that can be introduced by the incorrect camera angle). You should thing about having it off your left ear for an 8 iron.

Second is your backswing. Many elements are pretty good. But you let your hips sway backwards. This is a death move because it means you will be forced to make compensations later.

Here are two great threads for you to read through on how to improve your backswing.

So read through and work on those drills in your swing, post around the forum and then post your swing again and we can offer some more thoughts.

Good morning @mchepp and thank you for the pointers. I guess I read my sign up incorrectly, as I had thought that it suggested to load my swing first! lol I certainly am here to give as well as take, but I'm not sure what I have to give at this point. :) I've taken a few lessons, but find that the more things I'm taught, the more I seem to forget! Maybe one thing at a time? Thanks again!

You're fine. Just join some other discussions. You don't have to give swing help, just post in topics that interest you.

As for the swing analysis, I like what @mchepp had to say.

Pivot, don't sway.

    • Down the line and face on from today. Still feeling like I’m sticking the club into a hole in the ceiling above my right shoulder and then big loop inside to start downswing. That’s how it feels. Not how it looks though! Gotta keep working on this for a bit but I see a lot of progress. 😁
    • Day 5 (13 Mar 26) - Friday shootout cancelled- made it a practice round working from mixed tees. Plenty of up and down work around greens.  Best was a hole out birdie on the par 3 #5 hole - nice pitch and roll w/Pw from about 10yds off the green - dead center flagstick drop.  Much of round was focused on getting solid weight shift into lead foot.
    • Day 208 3-13 Worked on wrist arching and flow. First time hitting reall balls at a range in months. It was nice to see ball flight. Still not sure it beats my backyard practice station.
    • Three hole match - microphones on in the cart. It's fascinating listening to them talk about their shots and how they play them. I'm not normally a huge fan of the TM videos - they seem forced to me - but this one doesn't. It's also fun seeing their competitiveness over what on the face of it is a fairly meaningless 3 holes, but they can't help themselves.
