Hey, i know its gonna sound ridiculously simple, but i have a cure that will help almost every slicer, without ever touching your swing. Here we go, simply move the ball further away from you, set up as normal, then move ball out about a club head length, now when you swing you will be able to extend when you get to impact, you can also move it up even just left of your left foot for driver, irons up to inside left foot where your told to put it for driver, this will train you to shift your weight better to the left. if you wanna hit it the ball far and straight, you have to extend your arms through impact, if it's too close to you, then you can't extend at the proper point, which is why we extend early, at the top, now in order to get the club back to the ball we have to get our body out of the way, so we stand up, in a last ditch attempt to hit the ball we fall backwards. I know this is gonna seem much too simple a fix but i promise you it will work, i have shown quite a few people and it has turned their games around, you will soon be able to draw the ball too! This also works the same with irons. I prefer to move the ball forward as well as out because it really helps me shift forward better, just remember not to open your shoulders, you can even start with club in its normal position and have ball up a few inches. This tip will help develop a flatter in to out swing. Give it a shot guys and let me know what you think. You have nothing to lose and I'm not trying to get you to change anything in your swing.

I find that the opposite is true.  Moving the ball in forces me to to get inside and draw the ball, but pushing it out makes me stretch out to reach it and pull across creating a slice.

What fixed my slice was closing my stance.  It put me in plane and started the ball left.  When I fight the hook I just open my stance and watch the right turn come back.

I'll add my vote to the "this won't work a good chunk of the time" crowd.

Moving the ball forward in your stance will encourage many golfers to swing down/over/left even more, and moving the ball out will encourage many golfers to also move "out" toward the golf ball immediately in the transition to the downswing.

The OP is the opposite of what Stephan has me doing in my Evolvr lessons, which has helped a lot. I was tending towards having the ball further away. We brought my hands in closer to my body so in the downswing, they would go out more and create an in to out path consistently.

    • Day 2: August 12.  I did 25 balls of the ruler drill from LSW for putting.  24 of the 25 stayed on the ruler through 36" but some were smoother than others.  I suspect if the ruler (and goal) had been 48" far fewer would have stayed on.  I'm trying to go by sound, and not look, since when I attempt short putts, I don't want to look (although now I wonder if that's conventional wisdom that turns out to be wrong). 
    • Day 17: did mirror work while watching TV. Working on wrist feels. 
    • Day 315 - 2025-08-12 Got a little work in before Juniors showed up for one of their Summer Sessions.
    • I always knew it as high but never that distance was 90-95% of rating! That has always played to my advantage. I never have but I could totally vanity cap myself by playing **super** long courses that are otherwise super easy. There was one course like that in LA that I used to play that helped my cap like that. The back tees were close to 7k yards, but otherwise the course was incredibly easy. Wide open, misses almost always had a play at the green from the adjacent hole, flat greens, not challenging green complexes, etc. But it got a high rating because it was so long. So I could swing hard, spray and pray, and score well (relative to my handicap).
