Hey guys newbie here just looking for some feedback or advice on my swing.  I got the bug this year towards the end of the season of course. Just started breaking 100 on a regular basis so now of course Im looking to break 90 haha. I usually drive it pretty well and straight around 260 and hit my 3 wood pretty good as well. Iron shot seem to be holding me back right now the shorter the iron the more left it seems to go. All tips are appreciated thanks gents.

I've been Playing Golf for: 10 years on and off
My current handicap index or average score is: Just started breaking a 100 consitently

My typical ball flight is: on the higher side
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Dead pull left

Welcome to The Sand Trap. Thanks for posting. I don't see anything glaring in that video. It looks pretty good. Can you post a face on? We can see your weight shift better with a face on.

Not a bad looking swing that, I would question the angle of your shoulders though at setup, they seem really slanted to me possibly because the ball is being played off just inside your left heel,

So, I'd fix a few things in your setup:

01.jpg

  1. Arms hang out too far, don't hang down quite enough.
  2. Note drawn: chin is up too much.
  3. Shoulders point left ("open").
  4. Ball too far forward, hips too far back, head too far back.

02.jpg

Here you'll see that your left arm never gains much depth (to the left) and then comes over with a steep shaft (the shaft has to be steep here or you'll just whiff). There's only so steep you can get with longer irons, but with shorter irons you can swing left like crazy, particularly with the ball too far forward.

Thanks iacas I'm not really sure I understand what you mean by depth? The left arm has to go behind me inow the dtl view? Also I am a shorter guy 5'5 and I realize in my setup if I stand closer the toe comes up a lot. My clubs are not fitted but I was thinking about taking lessons and didn't know whether to get fitted first or learn to swing the clubs I have. Thanks again for your insight.

Basically, yeah.

Grip down a little in the meantime? Aim a little right? :-)

at 5'5 I would imagine you need to be fitted to your clubs and likely have them shortened unless you have super short arms aswell?, I'm 5'6.5 and need fitting but havent bothered yet, as Iacas said just grip down a little for now

    • They need to do something to speed  up play. They could randomly  time  players. One  idea would  be  if a group gets  out  of  position they are disqualified. If its a group of  3 and  its  1 player playing like  molasses i can imagine an exciting interaction, lol
    • I agree with @dennyjones, a suspension of some meaningful duration would be better than getting bounced from the Tour. They might consider experimenting each week. It might generate a bit of interest. I like the idea of a visible shot clock. If a player and their caddy can’t decide on a strategy and pull the trigger in XX seconds (30? 45? 60?), one stroke penalty. Give each player 2 resets a round. The clock starts when the last player to hit’s ball stops moving. Other pace ideas could be used every couple events until a consensus is reached to adopt or ditch an idea.
