I can't see the hole but that scratched area is very obvious.  No idea how you missed that. You were so excited about your date you didn't realize how unattractive she was until you picked her up. You can always turn it into a project club if if the golf store won't work with you. But I think they probably will come up with something. Just don't give them any more money such as buying another club on a discount. Believe me that may be what they try first and you will be screwed twice if you accept that because you will have wasted your money twice. So it's an even exchange or you have a 90 dollar project. Live and learn. Sorry about that.

Not sure if this is a good approach...

 After you talk to the retailer, and if they do nothing, if you contact Callaway you might want to mention that members on TST forum suggested that you contact them.  Callaway may see it as an opportunity to get more goodwill and potential sales from a larger base that just the person they are helping.
