A few years ago, our Club had a massive restoration project to our 100 year old golf course and one of the things we did was to eliminate some bunkers on holes in the valley that would get ruined in the occasional flood. We put in tightly mowed collection areas that really challenged players of all skill levels and one of the things required was a lot of thought about what club to use. I initially resisted using my putter because I always chipped if I was more than 5-6 feet off the green. I started experimenting with the putter and realized that the results were far more consistent. I now think putter first all the time around the green, even in the rough if the lie and line allows. Putt it, indeed!!
