Your right that a watch is a waist of money if you don't play other courses, but I would propose playing golf is a waist of time if you don't play other courses.

In my bag I have a Taylormade Burner. Previously I had an expensive Taylormade R15. I did a deal with a friend which gave me some cash, as I tried the Burner and it appeared to be as good as the R15. I also have a NEW Dunlop driver in my garage which cost me £10. I took the Dunlop driver out for a test drive a while ago, and to be honest it was as good as the R15 and Burner, but at a small fraction of the price. Makes you think, doesn't it ?

Some people don't have a huge variety of courses around to play a different one every time and cost can be a factor as well.  I play prob 3 or 4 different courses a year, sometimes more but a couple out here are out of my price range.  I am not paying $100 to play a round of golf.  I don't care how nice it is!  Would rather play my other course(s) a few times.  Can use that cash other places as well.

Expensive clubs do not make them better.  Just means your wallet is lighter.
