So I've taken several lessons within the past year and my driver swing speed has consistently been clocked around 95mph. I actually start around 100-103mph in the beginning, but after fatigue sets it, I'm usually in the mid 90's so I guess you could say I average 95mph. My pro said that I should definitely be using a stiff shaft. I purchased a M2 10.5 with the Aldila Rogue Stiff 70gram, but I have it set closer to 12 degree for 2-3 degree of a closed face. However, after hitting with that shift, it was just too stiff for me. The ball hardly went 200 yards and it was hard to keep it from slicing/pushing.

I switched to a cheap Aldila NVS 80gram regular shaft and now I can play my typical fade (same settings), but the ball still only carries about 200 yards and little roll. I typically play the fade because I can hit it pretty consistently, but I want to get more distance out of it. I feel like with my swing speed, I should be able to carry it further? No? I think I'm getting way too much spin on it. Will that  help with carry distance/roll? How do I lower my driver spin?

Thanks!

How many balls are you hitting? If only 20 drives or so, check out the root cause of this, because this could be indicative of an arm dominant swing? Usually, one should get faster because the body loosens up a bit. Unless, your hips are getting really stiff or something, in which case just stop hitting?

Just out of curiosity, why did you choose an even heavier shaft when you had the same flight characteristics as your lighter 70gm shaft?

Also, 95mph swing speed 200 yard carry with little roll sounds like a lot of spin. 95mph should get you well over 200 carry if you measured it with the shaft you are using?

Definitely over 20 swings. I say in the beg on a practice session I'm in the high 90's to 100. Towards the end of the session, I'm probably closer to 93-95.

I went with a heavier shaft because I went from stiff to regular. Thought it might compensate cause I think im in between the two flexes.

They're both Aldila shafts, so the fact that a heavier shaft has less flex seems odd?

If you feel like your swing is slowing more than a couple %, just stop hitting. There's no sense in trying to hit that many drives, since you don't hit more than 12-14 shots with a driver that are spaced out more than 10 minutes apart in a round anyway. It likely gives you a bad fit because you're not really using the same swing you would use on the course anyway?
