This has been touched on before but I notice that often with FEDEX deliveries, you don't get frequent updates. Usually one when it leaves the city of origin, and another when it reaches the hub at destination with nothing in between. At times I have items dropped off even before the due date, with no tracking notification whatsoever. UPS seems to have updates a few times a day dependent on how many stops along the route.

The only time I see an update for either is when the item is scanned into the system, for arrival, departure, or whatever reason.

depends. I have seen updates at every juncture along the way (sometimes). A lot has to do if it is entirely by ground or if air is involved (as it sometimes is even with UPS or FEDEX Ground). Just like in the USPS, I dont believe there is any such thing as an airmail stamp anymore as everything is sent airmail dependent on destination.(as far as common letters)

of course, there are always exceptions. Just pointing out my observations as well as search results when I googled it. I also have had some very detailed updates, but not consistently.

Those aren't exceptions. Those are the last four packages sent to me via FedEx.

I get lots of updates. Always have.

UPS and FedEx post about the same number of updates, IMO. USPS is slightly behind.

I would agree, I tend to get a lot more updates in UPS and FedEx tracking than I do with USPS. There have been many times where I see nothing in USPS until after it's delivered.

I guess it would be safe to say that everyone has had different experiences. I do not save mine, but here is the current one, delivery due tomorrow, originated on 2/10. No notifications since.

  • 4 years later...

I worked for this company. Driver. A regular truck driver gets 50-60 cents per mile, a refrigerated truck driver gets 55-65 cents per mile, and a tractor-trailer driver with an open flatbed gets 70-80 cents per mile (the higher rate in the latter case is associated with additional driver duties - for example, related to cargo securing). I left because I was always listening to customer complaints through my superiors and couldn't do anything. Cargo was constantly going through customs points, but the trackpack company is already working in that direction. And quite successfully. I am thinking of going to them, but I want to wait for a promotion and switch to small-sized cargo.
