Over here we use the Stableford system so I guess not a lot of you will be familiar with it but I hope someone can explain this for me.

So I played in my second tourament today and played so so. The second nine were decent especially 10-13 stretch of holes.

But nevermind that - I have a few specific goals in my mind and the first one was to finish this season with a hcp in the low 20s.

So to the question at hand. Here are two scorecards. One is mine.

The gross score (Bruto) is the score to scratch the net score (neto) is related to your pHCP.

So the gross score I beat him with 12-6. Net score he beat me 52-40.

So compared to a scratch golfer I played much better than him. But at the end of the day his HCP dropped to 33 and mine only to 36? How can this be accurate if I beat him by at least 6 strokes?

Never mind I figured it out myself. He was shooting doubles all day long and I had 10 good holes (3xpar, 6x single 1x double) and 8 pathetic ones (4x triple 4x ESC).

It's not that difficult. You can't get less then 0 stableford points on a hole. So if you score a 7 for zero points, you also get zero for a 10. It is somewhat similar to the ESC score for USGA handicaps.
