I'm going to Hawaii with my girlfriend in March, and I have decided that I MUST play a round of golf while I'm there. She's not a golfer, and I already have a "kitchen pass" to go play for a day. The Feb. issue of Golf magazine has an article on Kauai golf courses (the island that I'll be going to). Wailua Golf Course is looking like the affordable one for me. Greens fees during the week are only $32, plus $17 for a cart.

Has anyone ever played at Wailua Golf Course? Any opinions?

I have beent to Oahu and Kauai, and I can tell you you have made the right island choice. Kauai is a great island to go to. Not as good as Maui for golf, but still decent.

Here is a link about Kauai golf courses. I don't have any experience with the one you mentioned, but these are the highlights on this site. Some are pricey, but hopefully this will help out.

I was in Kauai in February 2006. I did not play Wailua. Obviously it might be a good bargain, but for me, if I'm going all the way to Kauai (and being in Phoenix, it's going to be a loooong flight or two), I'm going to buck up. It'll be worth the money too as you'll get to experience one of the top courses in all of the islands. I'm talking about the Princeville Resort's Prince Course. It was spectacular. Can't recall how much exactly, but I'm sure it's $200+. But it is one of the greatest, most challenging courses I've ever played. Princeville also has the Makai Course, which is very nice as well. Then, there's Poipu Bay where they played several Grand Slams of Golf events. That was an enjoyable one for me because I had just watched Tiger and Phil play there on TV a few weeks before I went out there. Then I also played Kauai Lagoons' Kiele Course which was right next to my resort. It was fun as well, but certainly # 4 of the four I played. My view is you never know when you're going to make it back to a place like Kauai so if you're going to have one round in there, it's got to be the Prince Course!

    • Day 242 4-19 correct hip/chest movement in backswing. Less hip turn more chest turn. Did a bit of wrist arch stuff as well.
    • Day 42 (19 Apr 26) - Spent a bit of time working on maxing torso rotation…hit a few pitches to help reinforce.
    • Thanks - that was a total surprise…

    • First round at Quail Ridge: 47 + 47 = 94 *Note: It was 25+ mph winds with gust in the 35+ mph. It was also around 58 degrees. I felt like I was out in Oregon. The greens were very firm.  Driver was decent. It didn't cause me an issues.  Irons were the biggest issue. Just low point control was lacking. Mostly on the chunky side. Also, my irons were routinely 20-30 yards shorter than normal. Even on holes with a cross wind, the ball was just dying. We played an extra 9 holes after the first 18, and the wind died down by then. I stepped into a 9 iron, and it came up 15 yards short. I have no clue what is going on. I should not be hitting 9 irons 140 yards when I am hitting my driver 300 to 310 yards.  Warmup didn't give me much confidence. I just kept shanking every other iron shot. I didn't shank an iron during the round. I just felt all out of sorts today. Coordinate felt off.  yea, I have no idea if I am purposely slowing down my swing to feel my downswing piece. Again, I hit a decent 9 iron and lost 15 yards of carry. I hope this is just an off day.
