When I setup to the ball I'm in a good position with my feet and hips, but my shoulders always point out to the right. When I square my shoulders I make a good swing, and obviously when they are not square I make a bad swing. Any tips or drills that may help with my shoulder alingment? Thanks.

Doing it the right way over and over is the best way to make setup changes. It wont feel right until youve pounded into your head.

when youve picked out your intermediate target, line up your shoulders along that line and not concentrating on your feet so much. i get my shoulders square at the start, not when im all ready to hit the ball adjusting shoulders will just cause them to move during your swing.

Square shoulders are over-rated.

It's your axis tilt I'm worried about. I'm willing to bet as soon as you get your tilt right, your shoulders will be just fine.

Equipment, Setup, Finish, Balance, and Relax. All equal in importance and all dependent on each other. They are the cornerstones of a good golf swing.

If you want to work on squaring the shoulders, stand in a door way with a club, put a ball down and set up as normal your shoulders will be square to the door frame if the ball is positioned correct. Most of the time when the shoulder is pointed off line is the ball is to far back or forward in the stance.

cjm How do you align yourself? Club first? Feet first? A received the following advice from a PGA Pro: Look at the target from behind the ball. Draw a straight line from your ball to that target. (Don't confuse target with landing area. Depending on the shot you play or the conditions, your target is not necessarily where you want the ball to land) On the straight line, find a spot 18 inches in front of the ball. Align your club with that spot. Then align your body parallel to that spot. Look at the target, again. You're setup should be ideal. Now swing. It worked wonders for me as I never aligned myself that way. A huge improvement in my game.
