I know I should get fitted, and probably will, but how much difference is there between the stiff and regular in the Xp90 as in Titlelist AP1's?

Common wisdom is to err on the side of the softer shaft, so if my numbers are similar, go with the regular?

I am almost 60 but in decent shape--but I can tell as I get tired the snap is not there. I still use a stiffer shaft (Aldila Rogue silver) in my 915D2, and am pleased with it.

My experience, The XP90 in stiff will feel like a regular in Dynamic Gold AMT and other heavy steel shafts. In other words, it's still somewhat soft.

A fitting would tell you for sure.

  • The XP90 for Titleist has R300 = 95 gr. / S300 = 97 gr.

XP90* delivers mid-high launch and mid-spin, so it would largely be a matter of how each flex felt.

Remember, you want a shaft you can handle on your OK days, not one that only works on your super days.

*XP90 appears to be a proprietary shaft made for Titleist; the XP95 - not the XP90 - appears on the True Temper site as a standard shaft.

Edited to clarify difference between XP90 and XP95.
