How many of you US golfers have played in the UK/Ireland? I was at Lahinch last summer and it was full of Amercians - good to see them too!

Get yourself over - play an old links, a very different game indeed!

i've made the trip--played a local public parkland track outside the telford area, but the big dog of the trip was making it out to Royal Liverpool - Hoylake 3 months before the Open Championship was there in July 2006.

safe to say i can't wait to make it back but will make it up to Scotland and over to Ireland too...

I played in 2007 in the Liverpool, Lake District area and plan to go back... when the exchange rate gets better. $8/gal gas, err... petrol. Ouch.

Wales looks like a good spot for golf - not as many well known courses, so less crowded and better value.

I love the speed of play over there. And for those who are going - not one course asked me for my USGA card to check my handicap.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Played Wentworth outside London a week ago and it was a very nice course. Probably a lot better when the flowers are all out. Some very odd food choices at the half way house...

    • Depends on what you mean by loading. There's load on the grip early in the backswing, transition, and at delivery. Big periods of acceleration. Swinging fast pulls on the grip with some good amounts of force. I've never touched a weight, but I can squeeze a dynamometer pretty well. I know you know a bit about weightlifting, but it's not just that. But… if they're really low, then it's going to become a limiting factor, as high swing speeds creates a lot of pull. Yes. It can happen. Especially with shitty worn old grips. Perhaps, yeah. Yes.
    • Angular velocity and acceleration caused by torque.
    • He's going for that carelessly disheveled look but it comes off so manufactured and deliberate. Kind of like Boris Johnson. Tool.
    • Ok but seriously, are they allowed to use their phones for Tiktok or YouTube during the lulls? Rory's round took 5 hrs 51 mins
    • Hole 6, you need to hit a 240 ish slight draw. I decided to flight a hybrid. I made the perfect length backswing, I swung down better, and I kept my arms in front of my chest in the finish with a 3/4 finish.  The ball didn’t get to the tree tops, flighted push draw. I really felt that stretch of the club pulling me up into the finish.  2nd is the next shot, a 70 yard waist to waist distance 52 degree wedge that landed 3 yards short of pin high and one hop stop pin high. Nippy. 😁
