Hi guys,

Has anyone tried both these clubs?

Does anyone have a general assessment on distance and forgiveness?

Much thanks in advance

I have tried the D2, which is both long and straight, but saying that I love the shaft that the D2 had in it (Proforce), IMO choose the head you like the best and then get an awesome shaft in it, do that and you have won the battle.

I tried both drivers last spring and I decided on the 907D2 I like the traditional look and ability to work the ball off of the tee. as you can see from my handicap I am not a pro but I have been bombing it with the D2. The D1 produced similar results but was not workable. The Taylormade was nice but I don't get into the movable weight stuff.

I have the Superquad and although I cannot fault its forgiveness and ability to keep the ball in play, I am hitting my 3 wood as far as it (approx 240 yards).

I am consider trading it in for a new driver with a bit more yardage behind it.

What do you mean when you say get the right shaft? I have a regular shaft that came with the club off the shelf, how would I know if I need to change it?

I have hit the D1 and I feel like my 983 K is a better driver than that...I think the D1 was Titleist's way of trying to make an unordinarily shaped driver like nike, and callaway have done. In my opinion it didn't work, but that is why we all have different tastes.

A friend of mine has one. I tried it. Great driver. Very forgiving. Lets you know what you've done wrong right after impact. I tied to slice it, and I couldn't...

There are literally hundreds of different shaft options available, Some of the bigger companys that supply shafts are Graffalloy, Aldila, Mitsubishia Diamana, True Temper, Royal Precision, UST. etc etc
Each different shaft has different flex's which means the shaft is either more or less whippy through impact, the slower you swing the more whippy you want the shaft to be.

The 4 basic shaft stiffness options are Ladies, Regular, Stiff, Extra stiff.

Choosing the right shaft is a mix of swing speed and the aggresivness and the tempo of your swing, if you have a lazy swing, your shaft will be softer than someone who has an aggresive swing, For example Ernie Els will have a softer shaft than Tiger Woods, due to swing tempo, not swing speed.

So the shaft is in essence what controls the Trajectory (along with the loft on the clubface) the spin put on the ball, and how much speed there is during the swing.

The flexier the shaft is, the further you can hit the ball, but it will be much harder to control, the stiffer the shaft is (within reason) the easier it will be to control, but the ball wont go as far.

As a general rule of thumb, if your general miss is to the left, your shaft is too soft (too flexible)
If your general miss is to the right, your shaft is too stiff.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
