I've been playing somewhat consistently for a couple of years now (played maybe 30 total rounds or so, not to mention many a trip to the range), but my iron play just keeps getting worse. Directionally, I'm usually fairly straight. My contact on the other hand is terrible and obscenely inconsistent. I'm desperate for any advice.

Thanks so much for any help and sorry that the video embedding didn't work!

I've been Playing Golf for: 2 years
My current handicap index or average score is: 30
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: any iron longer than a 5

Your low point is well, well behind the ball.

Welcome to TST. Your phone records high-speed video, right?

Thanks for the welcome and the critique. This is probably a dumb question but is there an obvious fix for my low point being so far behind the ball?

My phone does record high speed video, I believe. I imported these videos from Hudl Technique, so apologies if it's not as smooth if it would be otherwise.

Look at Key #2 (Weight Forward) and Key #3 (Inline Impact) type stuff:

Nope, golf doesn’t really have easy fixes I’ve found. Some are obvious but to change requires quite a bit of repetition and targeted practice. You’ve got a bit of a reverse pivot going on and are absolutely getting stuck on the back foot. It looks as if you are trying to “help the ball” into the air which isn’t what you want.

I’d also say you are overswinging. Wrist hinge is good. Too much wrist hinge that looks floppy’ish at the top is not.
