I was thinking about painting my putter, it has some chips in the paint and is currently red. I want to make it black, has anyone attempted to paint a putter before and any tips such as type of paint?

Chips on a putter are a sign of character. As long as the face has no chips. My old Zone 1 putter after a decade or so use had lots of character.

That said, I know a guy who repainted his metal woods. After thorough cleaning, he used high heat paint, with two light coatings. Once completely dry, he buffed them out. Then applied a third coat of color. After that dried, he applied a clear seal coating.
