commercial range mats vs at home set up

This is more of a muse than anything, but for some reason I simply cannot hit off a range mat as well as off my home net set up. Usually, I have a better round if I do not warm up first.  The mat I use at home is not really much different than the commercial ones other than the commercial ones feel a bit more bouncy.  Its not just the mat, but at home I can tell the difference between good clean hits and not so good.  I don't know, should probably just forego range practice all together.

What's your home setup?

On a related note, I really need to update my home setup thread with how it turned out.

Driver:  Titleist 915D2.  4-wood:  Titleist 917F2.  Titleist TS2 19 degree hybrid.  Another hybrid in here too.  Irons 5-U, Ping G400.  Wedges negotiable (currently 54 degree Cleveland, 58 degree Titleist) Edel putter.

oh, pretty normal set up with net hung on PVC frame, suspended vinyl target, hitting from mat(s) about ten feet away. Net shown is older version, but current nearly identical after artificial turf was laid in.
