Fred Couples Never a U.S. Ryder Cup Captain?

Just a thought...Why has Fred Couples never been a Ryder Cup Captain? He seems an obvious choice. Why has this never materialised? Any opinions?

The timing didn't work out for him. Maybe had he not captained all the Presidents Cups teams…

I think there had to be some behind-the-scenes thing going on about Freddy.  I don't know what it is.  Maybe someone didn't like him... or something!  He definitely should have been a Captain by now.  I do think he should have gotten picked before Furyk, considering how popular Freddy is.  And Freddy has such a great demeanor, too, when playing.  Who doesn't like Freddy?  For me, it's a little upsetting that he's been passed over.  (Maybe they asked him and he declined, I don't know.)
