  1. If you were to set up with your butt against a wall, during your transition/downswing your butt is coming off that wall. That means your body is going to be more vertical and be in the way. What you are doing to compensate is to lean back. The wrists breaking down is just a result of putting yourself in that position. Hips need to be more lateral and stay on the wall. A good key is to look at the right knee.
  2. Well you kind of have it wrong. The swing is supposed to have lots of body rotation. The better she gets at turning her body, the less she will get in her own way. Trying to swing all arms or with the wrists (w/e that means) is going to make it harder for her... or anyone for that matter.
  3. Depends what your head does on the backswing. EDIT* Your hips are coming off the wall and you are leaning back to keep the club on the inside.
  4. Mike and Andy don't consider the grip to be a fundamental, so you really aren't going to get much. They talk shortly about what a decent grip should look like, but they don't put much stress on it.
  5. Probably hitting a little more down with the ball on the ground... which means the path is going to be more in to out than when you are hitting more up.
  6. Unless your flight is too low, I would just go with it.
  7. Well thats a problem... for a couple of reasons. First, a clubface that is square or left of the target at impact is generally going to flight the ball lower than a clubface that is right of target. Secondly, if your path isn't 0'd out you are going to be working the ball away from target rather than into. My suggestion, try opening the clubface a little at address and see what happens. Hopefully that narrows face path differential (less movement), gets the ball started right, and adds some loft.
  8. I stay away from it... not because I get overwhelmed, but mainly because I find it annoying. So much of the stuff out there is just flat out wrong. And if its not wrong there is a really strong chance its a tip expressed in a feeling. Feelings are good and all, but without explaining the reality of what you are attempting to accomplish, it can be very dangerous. And I'm not saying that taking a lesson from someone would necessarily be drastically different, but at least they have to look at your swing first.
  9. Don't feel one over the other unless I'm working on getting the hands down faster. At that point I feel more of a swing.
  10. Yea, sorry... didn't watch long enough. But same thing is still true. Need to work on sequencing the downswing better.
  11. Drive everything back with the left shoulder (push it down) and just let everything else be passive. That should make the backswing considerably easier on you. Start the downswing by pushing the hips towards the target and then let everything follow. You are concentrating on the hands and arms too much.
  12. The angle in your right arm is breaking down on the backswing. You'd like it to be a around a 90* angle at the top, but instead it has completely collapsed. From there your outward forces are outracing everything else. Thats why everything gets thrown out over plane and why your right knee looks like it does at impact. Which means you need to work more on the down and forward pieces. It would be nice to see a FO view, but I think you need to work on sequencing and getting the hips more forward.
  13. Whatever helps you get the clubface square. I prefer a more natural arc (hands back up and in, etc), but putting is pretty subjective. I guess it could lead some people to dig the ball into the ground though.
  14. Well now I don't know what either of our Hmmms imply... my head hurts.
  15. I wonder if that will be coming out around the same time as the certification stuff... hmmm. Probably not.
  16. I'll stick to tees... they don't cost $200.
  17. The correct footwork is going to follow, or at least be made easier by, the correct hip and right leg movement. I think most could concentrate on footwork all day long and wouldn't accomplish much because of how poor their lateral motion is.
  18. Little shoulder rotation, restricted hip turn, arms off the body, upper center moving all over the place, etc etc. I would assume Hogan would disagree with all of that, but I know that S&T; doesn't agree with any of that.
  19. I just hope the op isn't talking about Mr. Elbows down and Mr. Cargo Shorts... haha
  20. I'm not one to hate on Foley for not saying that hes been influenced by S&T;, but tonight was a different story. I think I was more pissed at TGC, but still.... Their commentators have said some of the most ignorant things regarding S&T;, but then bow down to Sean Foley. Its just shitty that they invite players (little to no substance) to act as instructors or someone like Ballard, but won't ask Mike and Andy to come on. Maybe they did, but I doubt it.
  21. Yea I know the straight right leg drill. I feel like my right leg gets pretty straight though. Right hip might be slightly higher if my hips didn't slide slightly towards the target. Its something that has improved as a result of improving my spine movement, but still need to work on it. It is kind of low on my things to do list, but if it will help I'll work on it.
  22. See Erik's post.
  23. Don't lose the pressure in your armpits. That will keep the arms from finishing the backswing rather than the shoulders. Deeper rather than higher. Add pressure into the left foot during your backswing and keep the left knee bent longer. That will help the hips get to where they need to be.
  24. A steeper shoulder turn is going to allow you go get your hands moving in without rolling the forearms. Push the left shoulder down and let it move the hands. Be passive with your arms/hands. It should help your consistency issues. Also it wouldn't hurt you to stay a little more centered.
  25. Awesome thread.. even though I find it more maddening than funny. Heres a good one . My favorites are 8 and 12. Gotta fight the gag reflex on that one.
