Depends on the course. Most will say accuracy, but on my home course which is pretty damn wide open but pretty long, distance is far harder to compete with. I hit a lot of fairways but only 250 off the tee. Many of my friends/golfing partners hit it like 280-290 off the tee consistently...I hit it straighter, but they bang it out there so long they are coming in with wedges out of the rough anyway while I'm coming in with a 6 or 7 iron out of the middle of the fairway. It really depends on the course IMO. Short, tight courses...obviously accuracy is key. But on long, open courses where you can spray it a bit, distance is a much nicer thing to have IMO.

IDK, I disagree with that. Tiger's had a fantastic career even if he never wins another major - everyone's run comes to an end, eventually...The guy's had a great career - Failure and Tiger Woods are just two words that don't go together...Lol. And this is coming from a guy who can not stand and has never rooted for Tiger Woods.

Yeah I was looking at his scorecard on my iphone (gotta love the PGA tour app!) and I couldn't believe he made an 11 lol...I was wondering how the hell he got to +8...If it wasn't for that +6 on the one hole, he had a somewhat decent round otherwise.

78 today...I hit 8/18 GIR...Hit a good amount of fairways as well, one of my better rounds so far this year....I'm getting there haha.

I believe in it quite a bit. I always treat people the way I'd want to be treated.

He's definitely overhyped a little bit - but a lot of young players have been and will continue to be until we find another guy like Tiger...which probably won't happen for a long time, or ever. So, people are always looking for that next 'great one'...that immortal type of player. People really overhyped AK too a few years ago...Good players, but people were acting like he was the next Phil or Tiger Lol...

Most of the guys you listed still hit the ball far, though. It may not be the longest players, but they still are in the middle of the pack generally outside of Donald. And if it's a trend, then how do you explain Bubba's success this year? I don't really see a big trend honestly. It just so happens Donald has been playing some fantastic and consistent golf.

Do they make these in 16 or 17 degrees of loft? (2 iron equivalent)... I've yet to see them in the store or anywhere online. I really want to replace my 3-wood with a 2-hybrid. I hit hybrid's so much straighter, more solid, and also much higher so I can attack long par 3's. I love the look of this club, and would love to at least give it a try if not just go ahead and buy it, but I really need a 16, at worst 17 degree.

LPGA tour player you'd most like to play a round with .
CG031 replied to roobatooba's topic in Tour Talk
Anna Nordqvist just played my home course about a week and a half ago. Following the event at Hamilton Farms in NJ. She came up here on that Monday I believe and played a round. She shot 66 from the tips and I got to meet her. She seemed like she would be cool to play a round with. -
It's absolutely a sport. What idiot would say it isn't? Lol.

Shot 81 today, Par 71 6900 yards .. 40/41. Didn't make any putts; one of the best ballstriking round of the year. I feel like I've really made strides the past week or so hitting the ball. Now it's time to start scoring. Hitting more greens now and three putted a few times..I'm putting from further away so I'm making a good amount of pars but need to stay away from the doubles and bogey's (bogey'd last two holes because of three putting) GIR - 7/18 Fairways - 9/12 Putts - 33
-
No I never do. I have a better feel without it on putting.
-
Congrats man. Golf gets even more frustrating, I mean fun, once you're able to break 80!

You could try strapping it in on the drivers side with your bag. That's what we have to do for some of the Juniors bags at the course I work at.

Nice Iacas! Thanks again guys.

Pants or Shorts in Summer
CG031 replied to jgreen85's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Yeah, seriously. I usually wear shorts, and I recently got two pairs of reallllly nice Izod shorts for 35 dollars total. They are the nice material that Nike and Adidas usually makes, it's like the real smooth kind. Not sure of the actual material. The MSRP on the shorts was 52 dollars! I love outlets! -
Not really sure how a foresome putts everything out, and has a legitimate score, and can play under 4 hours. I really don't know how. I play pretty fast. My Dad and I, in a cart, can play 9 holes in about 1:20 with no one in front of us. If you're looking over everything, putting everything literally out, it's impossible to have a foresome finish in under 4 hours. 4 hours is a really quick eighteen for a foresome. You can do it if you play fast, and don't put everything out. But I'd say for players that are putting everything out it's going to be around 4:15-4:30.

Pretty good. Working a good amount of hours at a CC near my house; so haven't gotten out to play many rounds so far this year, only one or two. I've just been practicing a whole lot. I have a lesson on Tuesday to sure up some things in my swing, still a little rusty, lol. After that, I'm going to try to play a lot more. How about yourself? Still trying to get down to scratch?

Hey guys, Haven't been around at all in 2011 yet. Posted a lot the past few summers on here and my goal is to get on for this summer as often as I can. Have a good year of golf guys. -CG031

I think it makes things more interesting, but it's nothing like the four majors. I think the PGA Tour does a great job of trying to hype it up.

Personally, I don't think he's ever getitng his game back. Just my opinion though. I think his career is virtually over, I think he may win some events again, but any more majors at this point I seriously doubt. Again, just my opinion. If he did bounce back, would not surprise me. We ALL know what he is capable of, obviously.

Els, Couples, Donald, Rory, Sergio (LAG!)...just a few off the top of my head.

Nah, I think it definitely threw it off line, no way he reacts like that unless something definitely threw it off line. And dude, honestly, I probably would've reacted in similar manner (just being honest) if I had that much at stake (my first PGA victory)...
