  1. It's so stupid that it's a penalty that if you address the ball and it moves slightly because of the wind it's a penalty...it's so dumb. As if it isn't hard enough playing in the damn wind!
  2. 230 yards if I fully crush a 3 wood and I get some roll (def. not carrying a 3 wood 230, probably carrying it 215)... But most of the time I won't even hit that because of how good my short game is I'll just hit a 19* hybrid like 215 down to the front of the green and try to chip and putt on. There's only a few holes every now and then that I'm that far away on on a par 4 anyway. I drive the ball about 260 yards off the tee so I don't usually have that long in.
  3. i just cant spend over 40 for golf balls. i got prov1's and v1x's free through my h.s.. golf team we got a few dozen each year... so ive been using them all summer, but soon i will run out. from there i will go to something in the 30 dollar range!
  4. I'm sure they have plenty of tournametns available to you in NY...since you shoot in the high 70s low 80s you should probably go in a few, they'd be fun.
  5. Exactly. I see nothing wrong with trying to get them down a bit, especially with how the economy has been the past 3 years.
  6. Lol yeah don't stress golf. especially a casual round. what would probably help you is if you DID play in tournaments. I've played in so many tournaments and high school golf matches the past 3 years that I view a regular casual round at my club as rather relaxing!
  7. nothing wrong with what you're doing. if my dad told me he missed my first day of pre school/kindergarten because he was in a golf tournament, i'd view him as a hero.
  8. a lot of people say that but idk i believe him. whats the point of lying about your handicap in a book like this
  9. One time my uncle was playing a course with really deep bunkers, and he says "HEADS UP" as he's hitting out, thins it, hits the guy right in the head and he had to be taken to the hospital he got knocked out. Turned out to be fine, thankfully, but when someone says HEADS UP you'd think people would get the f%^* out of the way

    impossible?

I've been playing for 4 or 5 years and am at a 5 handicap. I work on my game a bit harder then the average joe though. I play almost everyday, all day in the summers, and I've taken several lessons.
  12. That's interesting...actually...I do not know the answer to that, I would assume No, but it'd be a nice way out of a bad lie!
  13. Changing your grip is the hardest thing. If you've been playing for a real long time and are an 8 handicap don't bother changing it...
  14. http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/championship If you scroll down to the middle of the page you will see "T.V. SCHEDULE"
  15. Wow, I can't believe he switched from the Scotty. Just baffling to me. I honeslty thought the day he switched from that putter it would be the day he gave up golf!
  16. This is exactly why my post said I've found that MOST, not all. Most people I've found at my club have a really weird handicap. This one guy admitted to me he shot a real low round the other day, but wouldn't put it in because he didn't want his handicap to go lower! How lame is that?! Probably MOST on this site their handicap is LEGIT. Why? Because we are all obssesed golfers. But out in the real world, I'd say about 60-70% of people's handicaps aren't accurate. Or at least more than half. That's what I've found anyway. And to me, I don't want any damn strokes. I want to play people straight up. I want to play a scratch golfer straight up. It's like telling LeBron, hey, LeBron, let's play 1 on 1, but you cut off one leg and give me 39 points and we'll play to 40. Maybe it's just my competitive spirit coming from other sports I've grown up playing. I've just found the entire handicap idea to be lame. And why do I even have a handicap? So I can play in official USGA tournaments and shit and a lot of places require you have a GHIN handicap. I could care less what mine is.
  17. I've never wondered why people care so much about and for handicaps. Most of them are B.S. anyway. Lets be honest, handicaps are whatever the f#$K you want them to be...I've always found (MOST, not all) peoples handicaps seem real low or real high. They either want to impress, or want to take peoples money. That's why I've never cared for handicapped events or anything like that. Whenever my club has a handicapped tournament I never play because you have people out there who are 15's shooting 81, and you have 2 handicaps shooting 79.
  18. After walking 18 I can feel it a bit, especially on my shoulders/back, but I could still play 36 if I had to. It's mostly the next day my shoulders are a little stiff. Riding 18 I can play for like 10 hours.
  19. This was just as hilarious as Gilbert's letter itself.
  20. No, the ESC rule is pretty damn stupid, if you ask me.
  21. I do, but it's more of an off-set, cavity back 3 iron from an old iron set I used to use (TM Rac OS2 3 iron) helps a lot on a low iron like the 3.
  22. it's whenever you chip it, and then one putt. doesn't matter if it's for par, bogey, or quad. bogey. I had 6 up and down's today in my club championship (some were for bogey unfortunately!)
  23. Yeah I could beat another 5 or 6 handicap...but I would have to play well. I mean I am always capable of shooting an 85 on an off day!
  24. ill be honest. i'll probably hit a provisional off the tee if it's in question, but I ain't walking back in a casual round at my home course. I'll drop it by thew oods and take two strokes at the end of the hole and add it on.
  25. Haha thanks guys. Yeah I wasn't too upset with teh performance, could've been a bit better down the stretch. A few doubles on the back is never fun.
