bunkers are ruining golf for me pls help!
cbe_golfer replied to Sandwedge74's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I cracked this one. I bought Stan Utley's The art of the short game and started doing exactly what he says. I always had a problem with that open stance. What he says works perfectly for me. No jitters now. -
My Driver Swing - Please Critique
cbe_golfer replied to Dent's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I dont think there is much wrong with that tempo. You have a cupped strong left hand and a weakish right hand grip. I am sure there are a lot of very good players with that kind of grip. I think your legs are a little too far apart for your shoulder width but that again is subjective. What I dont like is that at the finish both your legs are pointed at the target line. That said I'll take that swing at age 16. That's my 2 Cs. -
The course I play has a slope of 126 from the green tees I play from. I am tending to do better at the relatively easiercourses I was playing last year. I am knocking on par's door more often there now. These numbers must mean something or its a confidence thing..dunno.

ok..i saw the videos. Nice swing..not losing balance and all. Your setup seems to be right of the target. Your shoulders are pointed that way and your thighs too. I think your misses are left of the flag. Also, your swingplane seems a little steep. Some more extension of the left hand and transitioning more weight to the left leg during and after impact would give you more distance than trying to hook it for more distance. Also noticed that you dont seem to be hitting down on the ball with the irons and taking a divot. I dig it up a bit more. I also have my hands a little more in front of the ball at address with my 6i. Good Luck with your grand quest. Wish me luck too.

cant watch videos in the office. Will look later and give you valuable same-handicap advice . I think we have similar goals for 2008. Sub 10..the joy.

When I saw his crash, I thought he had no chance. His head was actually bouncing around despite the HANS device. Can you imagine the cars had no anti-roll bars and skinny tires a few decades ago. Those guys were gladiators. Today's technology is truly amazing. A few F1 drivers have actually said that they feel safer on the track than on public roads.

Lewis blew it big time again. I am beginning to think he is not really the brightest crayon out there. The tabloids will have a field day.

I think Boo's going to get it done again. He seems to be a good front runner. Maybe he does not think much at all and so he does not get in the way of himself.

We had those sirens going off at 1:00AM last night. Stormy night..should have had more beer before tucking myself in. Minnesota is a big ol' state. You'll be just fine. And for good measure...good luck to you!.

Fantastic. Memories for a lifetime. You know...I really wish I could play golf with my dad. He never had the chance to play.

It would not alter the characteristics of the shaft. what's more it would make the heel end of your club head heavier and hook more. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but tip flex affects height more than direction. tip stiff gives you a lower ball flight and viceversa. You may have better luck sticking it behind the toe of the club. my 2 Cs.

Where's Stricks???. Hope to see him back and playing well soon. Looks like a great field indeed.

its been pretty different the past few years hasn't it?. Not only in the US too. But there are also people who think these kinds of longterm cyclic changes have happened in the past too. I am not selling my clubs yet.

Hungary by driver consensus is the most boring track in the F1 calendar. They finish generally in the order of qualifying unless they drop out in the middle of the race. I hope he wins on a more exciting track. Since we are on the topic of racetracks, what are your favorites? Mine.. 1) Spa Belgium - all time favorite. Bernie has been trying to get it dropped along with Silverstone blaming the facilities because he wants to go to Asia where the new money is. 2) Suzuka Japan - Fantastic drivers circuit. They went to Fuji..hope they go back to Suzuka. We want to see racing, not the backdrop of the mountain. 3) China - My favorite among the new tracks. Hermann Tilke finally got his act together along with Bahrain and created tracks where they could drive close on different lines without turbulence. 4) Monza - Even though it is more of a pedal-to-metal track, the tifosi make it very special. The podium of every racer's dreams especially if you wear red.

For me at this point of time, everything else being the same the difference between 90 plus and breaking 90 is pitching. If I pitch it close on that day,I will usually make two three pars a side and break 90. I hit about 2 greens a side in regulation..so definitely seven pitches/chips a side if not more.

I dont think the equipment that he uses is vastly different from what you can get. I also dont think he will be any less effective if he uses a Mizuno or a Titleist set of blades instead of Nike. It is his talent, his discipline and the six inches between his ears that make him what he is.

Wilson Staff 50 Golf Ball
cbe_golfer replied to golf_fore_18's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
It is a 50 compression ball with an odd dimple design. flies well on easy swings to predictable distances. stopping performance is not so good. good deal for the money if you dont swing for the fences. -
what about matchplay..two push all push. carry the pot over to the next. that should be the easiest to keep everyone interested throughout.

Bridgestone e5+ vs Titleist NXT Tour
cbe_golfer replied to rogerhuang's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
From tee to green, I like the NXT tour better than the e5+. But I dont like the NXT tour when I putt. In fact, I dont think I have made anything over 10 feet with an NXT tour. I find it very hard to judge distance on my putts with it. e5+ wins hands down in that aspect. -
Course/Swing Management Question
cbe_golfer replied to $2 Nassau's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
No less a person than Tiger Woods has said that the days he really struggles are the ones where he has a two way miss going. That implies that HE plays the swing he brings to the course that day. So that is not bad advice. If you want to fix the swing, do it later at the range or go see a pro. Fixing it in the middle of a round is about the worst advice you can give anyone trying to shoot a number which is what most of us try to do on a golf course. -
Course/Swing Management Question
cbe_golfer replied to $2 Nassau's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I think most people will tell you to play the swing you brought to the course on the day. But I am bad at doing that. I should really go hit a few balls before every round...I normally find out after two or three holes what I have that day. -
Good source for objective equipment reviews?
cbe_golfer replied to jasongst's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
In my mind, such an objective review is not possible or useful because the greatest variable in golf is the golfer himself. Even Tiger does not know what kind of swing he brings to the course that day..not on his first swing at least. -
Jason Day just carded a 10 over. Please please please let your clubs talk for you next time. My Steve's on a tailspin right now..did not play the Memorial..but he is wise enough to not call Tiger out and then forget how to make par.

I dont need to kid anybody about it. I have VHS tapes of most races during his lean years and during his dominant years. His post race interviews during his wins and losses are a window to his attitude towards his team. Grandprix.com would still have his reactions in their archives even though they hated him.

Ferrari decided to build a team around Michael after getting burnt with two great driving talents on the team in the same year. And Michael is the greatest teambuilder I have ever seen in F1. His engineers and pit crew would die for him. That is the kind of faith he instilled in them because he always took the blame. That is leadership. The Ferrari F1 car is being developed even today with the predominant input of Michael. That is why his records will never be broken. Lewis is trying to do the same thing. But Lewis does not have Mclaren in the same position that Michael had when he joined Ferrari.
