I drive a 98 316i Compact... shes not very fast but still a fun little car oh and the 40mpg highway don't hurt either.
-
I hit my driver around 280-290 my 3 wood is at least 265 my 5 wood is at least 250. If you want 210 your probably looking at either a 7 wood or a 18-20 degree hybrid. Even those might have you more in the 220 range.

is it better to be straight than longer?
LankyLefty replied to 5ironkid's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Yup if we just lifted weights we could all be pitchers and long drive champs.... wish I knew that before I got into IT. -
Par for the course inflates newer golfers scores.
LankyLefty replied to trackster's topic in Golf Talk
I personally play aggressive and It makes for wild scores, indeed. Back when I was playing on a regular basis 3-5 times per week, my scores ranged from 112 to 79. I could be more consistent by playing for the middle road, but I think my average score might remain the same. -
Ive never swung one but if those things work half as good as they look...

Does it matter WHERE you get fitted for clubs?
LankyLefty replied to Luker's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Depends, for a general length/lie fitting, lots of places do that, it doesnt require much expertise. But some people like to get fit for absolutely everything, personally i dont think its necessary, in that id go to someone affiliated with a compenent maker brand or someone whos really specialized becuase you need to have the exacting compenents to make that work. -
Experiences wth a real driver fitting
LankyLefty replied to inthecup's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
KZG is one of the most respected custom components manufacturers in the world. They are small but they cater to people who want 100% custom fit clubs, if you want a true custom fitting experiance I dont think you can do much better then KZG unless you in a major urban area with a boutique fitting outfit. -
Exactly the ballclub was ruled negligent despite the the supposed agreement from buying a ticket.
-
It doesn't matter the ticket is a reminder, not an agreement. The agreement is assumed. When you go to a baseball game they post those signs, however even if they didn't a fan would have no legal recourse for injury sustained form a foul ball most of the time. When you do something, driving, going to a baseball game, rock climbing, sky diving ect. ect. ect. weather or not you sign a release or view a warning sign agree that you are taking a risk and so long as there is no negligence or mal intent, if something happens you have no legal recourse. Negligence is obviously loosely defined on purpose so that a judge can decide what constitutes negligence.
-
The agreement that comes on the back of your ticket or receipt in this case means didly. They never hold up in court. For example if a baseball team put seats so close to the batters box that you could not possible react to a foul ball, or if they did not put a net up behind home plate. What it comes down to is inherent risk. Is the mere act of attending or playing an acceptance of risk, I think on both golf and baseball the answer is yes to a point. Baseball cannot be played without hard balls flying around at high speed, so when you attend a game you accept that inherent risk simply by attending. The only applications I can see whereby this does not apply in golf, is if the person intentionally hit you, which in most states could lead to an assault 1 charge, if they did not yell "fore" which would open them up to civil liability or if the golf course did not include a bell or any kind of warning device in a place where the tee box is clearly out of sight of the green, which could open the golf course to civil liability. However every case is going to be different, if you dont even bother looking to see if anyone is there then after realizing your hitting into someone, yell fore... you could be liable.

start tracking putts per round. Seems like you are assuming your butting is no good, however I think if your really automatic inside 6 feet, you may be pleasantly surprised.

If You DO NOT Take Lessons, Why?
LankyLefty replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
This might be the most ignorant statement Ive ever seen on this site... So a golf instructor who makes his living teaching people, is not going to teach you so that he can keep his job??? His job is teaching, how is he going to keep his job by not doing it? Were you drunk when you wrote this? -
Difference between a gap wedge and an attack wedge?
LankyLefty replied to mikelegacy's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
It is a wedge that in between your PW and SW whatever the hell you want to call it. -
How about 3/4 swing and more club on most swings?
LankyLefty replied to Lizzyboy's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
My old "full" swing was a obscenely long, I cut it down to 3/4 and instantly gained 10 yards on my irons. My woods and hybrids I still "full" swing, but that's just becuase Ive been hitting them quite well that way and dont want to mess it up. -
If You DO NOT Take Lessons, Why?
LankyLefty replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Ive taken two lessons, and they were gifts. Now im out of the country and the season ends soon here but even so I just cannot justify the price for myself. Maybe now that I have steady employment I might reevaluate. The two lessons I did take were immediately helpful and immediately led to reduced scores. But even so golf is a hobby and I already spend too much on balls and greens fees. -
Hate to break it to yall, but forging vs casting is a really dumb debate the only difference is in the Hardness of the metal. However hardness never comes into play when your hitting a golf ball that is significantly softer then both. In real world testing the amount of vibration produced when club meets ball of 100% identical irons, one forged and one cast was less then 1%. A lot of the "softest" feeling head designs are more players irons without intricate cavities or weighting systems that necessitate casting so they happen to be forged however even if they were cast they would feel the same.

How good do you need to be to play on PGA tour?

Well he played literall only a few days after the players, I assume they really toughen the course. -
How good do you need to be to play on PGA tour?
LankyLefty replied to LongballGer's topic in Tour Talk
Hes a real +2, really good golfer, and this particular course is no cake walk even if it was his home course. The 92 was a bit of an aberration he shot shot a 10 on a par 4. He said that the 2 things that were hardest to adjust to were the rough and the sight lines. -
How long before Tiger falls out of the WGC top 50 rankings?
LankyLefty replied to Vermeer's topic in Tour Talk
Hate him or love him (or love to hate him or for that matter hate to love him)..... Tiger Woods presence at any event is good for that event. -
New driver shaft dilemma. Need suggestions.
LankyLefty replied to marengo's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I think you should take it back immediatly just to point out the error, tell them you have a tournament and see what their response is before you do anything. -
How good do you need to be to play on PGA tour?
LankyLefty replied to LongballGer's topic in Tour Talk
This spring I played mostly at a course that was about 6800 yards from the tips, with among the highest slope ratings in the area. The club champ at that course was about +2 cap. He took a vacation down to TPC Sawgrass right around the players, played 3 rounds shot 88, 84 and 93. -
I dont see anything wrong with people paying big somes of money to entice Tiger to play in their tourney's. I think its a win win, Tiger gets to gets to make headlines for something positive and perhaps improve his game, the tourney sells tickets and increases TV ratings. Tiger Woods, good bad or average is still the biggest draw in golf.

is it better to be straight than longer?
LankyLefty replied to 5ironkid's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
So slowing down in order to be strait you are losing a considerable amount of distance. Point is you want to be as long as you can while maintaining as much accuracy as you can. Is it better to be strait then long? Answer... the two have absolutely no correlation.
