What did you wear when you played your last 18.
Robiola the Monster replied to plark's topic in Golf Talk
Bright Blue Nike shirt Kaykee coloured tailored shorts My reel-fits + titleist hat When i was down the range today i had navy blue b-ball shorts on and a Madball T-shirt (hardcore pride worldwide!)... old people hate it, but i was comfy -
You expect all putts to drop don't you??? You don't stand over the ball saying/thinking "this isn't going to drop" or "i can't expect to make this". Iacas is right, you know the chances of making the putt maybe low or you think the putt is hard but you still believe you can make the putt & you do everything you can to make the putt. Negative mind sets are bad for your game.

Best looking clubs?
Robiola the Monster replied to maraca2020's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
True, none of their clubs look like experiments, maybe the AP1's with the red. Their woods look traditional, wedges are a great shape & look like they work. Putters are sweet, except the detours, what happened there? -
Best looking clubs?
Robiola the Monster replied to maraca2020's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
BLADES!!! + the new callaway X-22 Tour look good, never liked cavaties but they almost had me sold until the Z-B's came along. The best looking irons would either have to be the X-Forged or the 695MB, i don't think that anything on the market today or anything that hase previously been on the market looks better than these. -
Don't get a 58* save yourself the pain & just grab a 50* which you could even get bent to 51* if you wanted it closer to your SW or a 52 bent strong to 51* My wedges are bent strong to even though it says 56 & 52 in my signature there actually 51 & 55

Scotty Cameron v. Odyssey
Robiola the Monster replied to taylor_made809's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just threw up, Yes! putters are the worst thing that ever happened to golf. They look like experiments, the feel like crap, they don't roll the ball that well, they are useless on greens that aren't it top condition, there balance is way off. Scottys on the other hand have negative bounce, so you don't set up with the putter face closed, are perfectly balance & the circa '62 are milled from carbon & feel soooooo good. They aren't over priced they just aren't made in china & the price sorta makes them exclusive & stops you from damaging them - The grips on scottys are even specifically made to give the best feel. -
So say you hit someone on a golf course with ball or your club during your swing (not throwing it) & your give them a TBI (traumatic brain injury) and they need care for the rest of there life, who pays you or the gollf club or is there some external body that looks after this. What happens if this happens at a PGA tournement?

If i was playing a comp or tournement i would rather walk and have a caddie in a tournement. But if it was a social round carts are fine.... puts me off not having time to think, chat and walk in a tournement (even though your not alowed to cart it in a tournement.

Stint Meter (Putting green speed)
Robiola the Monster replied to Robiola the Monster's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Ahhhh... Its actually called a 'stimp' meter.... Yeh that took me three years to work out. You learn something new every day How it works: The Stimpmeter is an aluminum bar, 36 inches long, with a V-shaped groove. The ball release notch, located 30- inches from the end that rests on the ground, is designed so that a golf ball will always be released and start to roll when the Stimpmeter is raised to an angle of approximately 20 degrees. The distance traveled on a flat portion of the green in feet is the number given. This is an average of several greens. -
How the hell do they work this out? i have been playing golf for 3 years and i have never looked it up, i have a general idea of what the ratings are but is there a tool i can buy to do it or what? - I might search this in google ey?? How fast are your clubs greens during club championships? (sorry if this has been done before)

You'd get a bad rap in the clubhouse from your playing partners & once branded as a cheater etc. even if you didn't do it, you have that reputation for the rest of your life.

Yeh i have played golf in Australia (i live here) & America & i would love to play golf in Phucket & all the countries South-East asia (the ones with good golf courses). New Zealand would be nice to. Augusta, St. Andrews, Royal Sydney (done, want to play again), Royal Melbourne, TPC Sawgrass (Favourite, although doesn't have as much history as Augusta & St. Andrews)

Extra ball in your pocket? Jeez that would put me off something savage, do you ever bruise your leg when you bumpit or lean on it? Or do you just wear baggy pants?
-
See in the second row, the second picture from the left (the one above the writing "perfect posture"), if you can put yourself in this position and then stop (have to mirror it if you are right handed like me) & check you are here and then swing to the top & then make your down swing (as a drill, not when you are playing) + make sure your right elbow (if you are right handed) is not getting lose and 'tucking in' behind your ribs, if you are 'tucking' your elbow in this means you are not having enough shoulder turn & you may need to work on that. - Go to position - Check - Make Backswing - Swing - Repeat If you don't understand i'm sorry i may be explaining it as you already know what to do, and you might not. If anyone knows the name of this drill could you state it, because i can't remember the name of it. I just call it the 'shank' drill because it stops me from getting 'stuck' & when i get 'stuck' i hit shanks, but this also doubles as a swing plane drill. It shouldn't alter your swing to much just the bottom 180 degrees (from hip-to-hip) of your swing. Sorry if you don't understand what i'm talking about.

Most frustrating thing about golf for you?
Robiola the Monster replied to deronsizemore's topic in Golf Talk
Are you sure your not me or my doppelganger? That is deadset my golf game, it is so annoying & my short game is sooo annoying i hit bunker shots/chips/pitches perfect & then miss 2-6 foot putts... i'll miss 2+ of them every round and thats why i'm off 4 not scratch. Someday it will all come together, after practicing for 3 hours every day on the putting green maybe -
9.5 or 10.5 degree driver?
Robiola the Monster replied to d373rm1ned's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
This is true. Get fitted, thats the best thing to do & if it aint broke, don't fix it. I play a 10.5 with a 460cc head, I used to play a 460cc head with 9.5* (907D2), but with the 909D2 when i got fitted it worked out that i needed the extra degree to get the ball just that much higher on launch. My ballflight doesn't balloon, due to having a heavy shaft & a mid kick point in the shaft. Also depends on the cc of your driver 400cc is going to launch lower than a 460cc. Your best bet is to get fitted. -
On the Titleist site it shows you which pro uses what & says on each tour how many pros use pro-v's & x's.... It also mentions nearest competitor and it doesn't say who that is.
-
Oh god, you would hate to play with me, I have headcovers on all my clubs except my 56* & my 52* (only just recently put iron covers on, due to getting brand new irons) & i always do my pre-shot routine. You would also probaly get annoyed with the amount of stuff i drink & putting drinks in and out of my bag.
-
This guy has a point, i play off 4-5 and i hit the ball well enough to play off scratch but my putting game is off and i don't scramble enough. It's coming around though i just have to work at it. As a ten marker you should be hitting around 6 greens a round, if you could convert 50% of the makeable birdie putts your well on your way to dropping a few shots, eliminate the doubles & take the safe route all the time, you might get it over the trees or lake etc. 75% of the time but does it pay-off? do you make birdie all the time when you take these risks? Just work on your short game and your management. One suggestion from me, don't stop, even when you feel your going nowhere or it's getting tough, don't even take a 2 week break, don't let frustration get the best of you. I've taken a couple of breaks some even around a month long & they did me no good, it didn't make me more determined or re-ignite my love for the game, that all came back through playing more.

I have never played the same person twice, i have seen the same people year after year but never played the same person twice. Although one time when i was playing junior pennants last year, there where twins and one played off about 15 and the other one played off 3 & they looked exactly the same. Have a guess which one i had to verse after seeing his brother hit crappy chips around the putting green? Hahaha "Such is Life". Atleast you can look forward to next year and hopefully play the decider.
