yeah they're good...but not the best in every department. They are an acquired taste in clubs - the irons especially. Don't think many people would agree that they are the best in all departments. I was fitted recently and i'm actually selling all my Ping clubs, irons and wedges. Lost my faith lol

Has anyone heard of or played these shafts? www.kbsshafts.com Designed my Kim Braly (the patent author of Rifle, Rifle Flighted & Project X) I just got fitted and these guys came up trumps (in a Taylormade Tour Preferred iron). Never hit the ball better.... Kenny Perry is using them, Rod Pampling, Richard S Johnson, Darren Clarke too. And Ernie Els is meant to be trying them out. They are fantastic - getting them ASAP.

Rocket Tour head covers, your experience?
hawkeye replied to Thaddy's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The answer is Voodoo Economics. I'd consider getting these at some stage - Daniel Chopra has them on his woods. Lovely blue and yellow Swedish colours. I'm happy enough with my head covers at the moment - Elmo (3 wood), Walker Cup 2007 (5 wood) but might get a Rocket or 2 in the future. Really like the look of them -
think those are newer models since the original postings 4 years ago I just got the Tracy II - mallets broke my heart so i've gone back to the blade. 5 rounds in - i'm delighted. Cost me EUR 108 on ebay from the States - they'r'e retailing EUR 179 here. Just got standard lie and length, getting it fitted next week. Looking forward to rolling in a few putts with it!

just got this - pretty cool. Though I can watch Amen Corner on BBC interactive - this is great: Can watch the main coverage on tele and Amen Corner & 15/16 when my fave players are going through (seeing as how the camerawork sometimes neglects a player who is doing well) well done Masters

Ping Collegiate Bags in the UK
hawkeye replied to McIlroy_man's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I got mine through Ping - though our order was for 15 bags. We got our custom made with our College Logo embroidered (took ages but was worth the wait). -
Titleist Pro V1 Practice
hawkeye replied to AbsoluteZero's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
What about R&A; rules? i've used PRACTICE balls a lot (though not in competition) and they are no different - I believe what Titleist say -
So I read this last night, an unconfirmed report which has now been confirmed on www.tigerwoods.com Congats Tiger & Elin!
-
Sergio Garcia I think - highest calibre of the lot, world number 2, and only really lost because Padraig Harrington shot unbelievable back 9's in 2007 Open and 2008 USPGA. Rory McIlroy I hope - Well I am Irish. Been following him for many years now - he's achieving what people have expected of him 5/6 years ago. Give him a few years and he'll have an Open or 2.

Don't think anyone said/will say that...read the quote by O'Meara.

Time will tell. He sure can play but we won't know for a long time if he's the next Tiger. And it looks like he's ripping the field up in Dubai, 5 ahead with 5 to play, plenty of WR points going abegging, and looking to make Masters debut in a couple of months. Can't wait.

Webb Simpson Danny Willett

wait - you didn't mention distance? the R7 Limited has 35 yards variation - sideways.

lowering ball flight - equipment or tecnhique?
hawkeye replied to hawkeye's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yeah I have a pretty high spin rate - even punch shots where the club finishes low end up soaring. Fine when you're hitting a 4 iron 150, but when you're trying to hit a 3 wood 200, or a driver into the wind - harder to control. Hit a 6 iron from a bunker yesterday - went 150 forward, 80 yards up, 50 yards right and 30 yards backwards. BALOON! -
Casey is stealing the show - though Harrington was 5 under thru 8 (stumbled at 9 and 10 - bogey and par on par5) McIlroy had his average round yesterday - but is 5 under thru 14 now, around T7th. Casey now 23 under (6 ahead of Kaymer) heading into back 9 - looking like getting his first win since here in 2007 (Kaymer looking to defend title)

Non Waterproof Golf Shoes
hawkeye replied to dagolfer's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Every pair of shoes I've owned has leaked - so I just get ones that look good now! The dryjoys have been the best so far but still leak. Adidas aren't great. Puma - i have a goretex pair but keeping them for the summer annd the range. -
Harrington had a decent finish - though could have been better. Would love to see McIlroy take a title before his first Masters - the world is ready for him now. He's gonna destroy the Race to Dubai!

I have a Ping Moon - fits 14 clubs if i have to, usually take 10 or less, great for the winter here and summer - social golf especially. I think they're a great idea - I bring it to the range (short game area is a fair bit away from bays). In the winter - all I do is put on all my warm clothes, raingear - the lot. So no need to put gear in a bag. It's more fun playing with less clubs, gives you a greater feel for your clubs and you might just be a little more creative on the course when you have 14 clubs. They are lighter and smaller than conventional stand bags - I rarely carry mine (Ping Hoofer Vantage) but I like carrying in the Winter when it's very cold (wear mittins) and summer 9 holes in the evening / bit of practice.

Hey - where did you go to with a Launch Monitor? Not places here! I've hit that shaft before, was very nice - I liked the high kickpoint. Don't know much else about shafts though!
-
Couple of my classmates in college invented this: http://www.vicariousgolf.com/index.php Not for me personally, but i should have invested early!
-
Though I haven't hit the hybrids - I have found the 2008 fairway woods to be better than than the 2007, the extra few quid is worth it.
-
Yes and no Yes - when i'm playing at my home club and playing againt my peers handicapwise, i'd consider myself long. I'd average 260/5 (includes uphill / into the wind etc.) No - when I played in college I was outdriven by 30-50 yards by some team mates and opponents. Granted - they were one or 2 levels better than me - they'd show Corey Pavin a thing or 2!
-
delighted with this - well done Padraig, another acolade for a great year - the best by a European player in a long while.
