  1. Could you imagine some of the slower players on tour playing simultaneous rounds with 4 separate balls? Ten hour rounds, more injuries from fatigue setting in, and nobody giving a **** by the back nine. Couldn't make the Fed-Ex cup any less appealing to those that aren't golf junkies...lol.

    Gosh Dang!

This game is funny like that, isn't it?

From reading your response, perhaps it is just all in your head...though I imagine it has a little to do with what I mentioned previously as well. Having said that, if you go into the back nine every time "waiting to fall apart", it's undoubtedly going to happen. If you think it's a mental thing, and your course allows it, try teeing off from the back nine first. If you're fine through the back nine, but fall apart on the front nine, then it's probably your fitness level or trying to swing too hard all the time.
  4. I should be your hero Kas...you need a good role model...lol

    Gosh Dang!

You could be growing tired towards the end of your round, causing your mechanics and timing to break down...thus making "the world fall apart"....lol. When I first started playing again, I was having the same thing happen to me. It could be your overall fitness, or it could just be that you are trying to kill the ball every time you swing. Even if you're in great shape, trying to hit the ball as hard as possible ALL the time will take it's toll on you by the back nine. Just a thought... Quote:
  6. Anyone have any thoughts on using swimming 3-5 times a week as a core body workout? As golf is mainly a core strength game, I would imagine that swimming would be extremely beneficial...but I'm not positive. So, I ask, what do you guys think? To swim or not to swim?
  7. Well done man! Hard work pays off.
  8. LOL @ your definition of talent
  9. I'm not sure if those clubs are "dead" because I still actually would prefer to hit a long iron over a hybrid, but I'm just weird like that. For me personally, I carry 3 and 4 irons and a hybrid. I took my 5 wood and used it as a tiki torch staff to make room for the hybrid..lol. Long irons are hard to hit, and in particular, 4 irons, I believe are the most difficult iron to hit consistently (don't have any stats to back this up, just what I've observed). Hybrids are great rescue clubs, but I don't like hitting it unless I'm in a tough spot...they are like a utility club imho.
  10. This...this is essentially what I was trying to explain...great post dhanson!
  11. Well, I'm by no means a pro, but.... Basically, if you're standing as far back from the ball with a hybrid as you would a fairway wood, then you are wrong...imo. Generally speaking, at least from my experience, a hybrid whether it be a 2,3,4 hybrid has the same length shaft as any standard 2,3,4 iron would. So, having said that, if you are addressing the ball with your hybrid and standing too far back from the ball this could be a reason for your inconsistency, by causing your weight to be on your toes through impact. I was too far back from the ball when I first started hitting a hybrid and couldn't hit the thing worth a darn. Now that I address the ball as I would a 4 iron I'm hitting it straighter, longer and more consistently. Hope this helps. I'm actually off to the range right now and will try and get some video to show you what I'm talking about...it'll give me a chance to fiddle around with my new camera...lol. One thiing that helps me greatly is to slow down my swing with the hybrid - nothing good ever comes from swinging the hybrids as hard as my irons. Thanks ...
  12. Went in to buy the TM '09 Burner HT driver on clearance...they were sold out...so I bought the Adam's Speedline F11 I had tested a few times in the simulator. I'm lovin' it!
  13. Are you addressing your hybrids like an iron or fairway wood? Just a thought...
  14. I slightly disagree with this. I would imagine it depends on how far your average 3 wood travels off the tee. For longer hitters (100mph+ SS) a solidly struck 3 wood should travel between 245-260...with roll, at least from my experience. Obviously not EVERY par 4 is going to be really long on a 6300-6400 yard course, but for those that are long, laying up and leaving yourself with a short chip/pitch to the green, followed by a short par putt is PERFECTLY acceptable.
  15. Thanks for the response man! I actually found out that the launch angle reads a bit high on the monitors by three or four degrees, which if true, puts me right around an appropriate launch angle. They didn't have an explanation for this, so I can't be 100% sure...but one thing I do know for sure is that I'm hitting my Adams Speedline F11 further and straighter than I've ever hit a driver in my life. The distance and deviation seem to be fairly accurate on the monitor, but of course that is only judging from my most recent round. Anyways, just got a new HD camera and am hoping to get back to the range sometime this week and do some filming. Will post some videos when I do.
  16. My driver is a stiff flex 9.5* cut down a smidge. Normally you lose distance by cutting a club, but if cutting it down allows you to hit it straight, you will actually gain distance back from what you lost in the fade or draw you played before...at least it will seem that way...imo.
  17. Yup....course management can go a long way in improving your score at the end of the day.
  18. You should give the Q-star a shot. It's a great ball for the money, imho. I've been playing them and can tell you that they are long off the tee, not a lot of ball spin with the driver, but you can still get a very decent amount of spin around the green. This past weekend I actually spun back a 7 iron 6 feet. Anyways, for $25 I don't honestly think there is another ball on the market that compares to them.
  19. My best shot of the week was a chip in from 10 yards off the front of the green...for bogey. It was a par four, and I hit my tee shot out bounds to the right, just got way ahead of myself on the swing, and knew it was going to happen as soon as I made contact. I caught my fourth shot fat and ended up short of the green. I've been working on a chip and run with my 8 iron, and this was the perfect hole to put it to the test as the lead up to the green was nearly flat except a slight right to left undulation leading up to the hole. I played the chip perfectly, had it rolling quite nicely up to the break, and it snuck right down into the hole..again, to save bogey. It was pretty cool to be able to implement something I have been working on into an actual round...and have it work! I'm pretty stoked about it to say the least.
  20. Welcome to the forums! West Texas has some pretty decent football teams. Best of luck this year!
  21. I'm a bit perplexed as to why you would "force" yourself to use a club you admittedly do not hit well. If you are hitting the rest of your clubs with a decent amount of consistency, then more than likely your mechanics are breaking down while swinging your driver. Until you identify the problem(s) and make a concerted effort in attempting to correct said problem, "forcing" yourself to hit your driver on the course is most likely hindering your ability to score as well as you could.
  22. There are far more variables that factor in to which one of those clubs will be the best option for you hit most consistently. You need to take those clubs to your local golf shop and hit them on a simulator. They can tell you which club you are most consistent with. Then when you find the one that you are most consistent with, get fit for it. This is the only way you are going to improve using ANY of those drivers. To answer your question though, I've read good things about the '09 Burner, and wanted one myself. Not sure about any of the others, however.
  23. I have nothing to prove to you Kas...believe it or don't, but either way, I will ask you once again to stop trying to incite controversy. That is all, thank you.
