  1. Approach shot 260 yard carry 3w into a par 5 to 10 feet. Lipped out eagle. :)
  2. Knuckes down makes you release the club properly and not flip it. That's it.
  3. I've been struggling with the shanks for about 2 years. Even when I'm playing well I usually see one rear its ugly head per round. Its something that's been driving me totally crazy. Even when I shoot good scores, if I shank in a round it destroys my joy. Anyways as you can imagine i've been trying to figure it out for a while now. So here it is. Setup. Setup. Setup. When I shank its because I'm unknowingly setting up with my shoulders open to the target, causing me to have a crappy shoulder turn, which leads to more of an upright swing that inevitably goes over the top and results in a hosel rocket. So if you have been struggling with the shanks and can't figure it out. Check out your setup. Make sure you shoulders line up with your feet and hips. If not then you are forced to make huge compensations.
  4. Shot a 71 on a par 70. A few silly mistakes but overall a good round.
  5. That's a hilarious. One thing that can bring out the compassion in the even the most hardened hearts... commiserating over the shanks! Yeah i've been suffering with these bad boys over the past 2 years and to be honest I was standing too far from the ball. Yes from time to time I'd slide towards the ball, come from too far inside, all the usual suspects, but the main culprit was my setup. It looks good, but in actuality there was too much room between the butt end of my club and my belt buckle. Now that there is just over a fists width (with thumb sticking out a bit), I'm much more balanced in my backswing and the shank is virtually a memory... but not a fond one!
  6. Driver: 280 3W: 250 2H: 230 4i: 205 5i: 190 6i: 180 7i: 170 8i: 160 9i: 150 PW: 130 52W: 115 56W: 100 60W: 80
  7. Sounds like maybe your just simply getting stuck. Sometimes when your lower body is too much ahead your upper body, your arms can get stuck behind you and you will hit a block. Either your rotating with your hips too quickly. Maybe just try to consciously keep your arms in front of your chest throughout your downswing. I think that Tiger and Rory have this problem too and have talked about it online.
  8. Staying behind the ball. I have a tendency to slide forward a bit sometimes, which comes from going after it too much and I can even shank a couple that way. I can tell when I'm doing it cause I'll see my ball flight come down noticeably. If this happens, then I know I'm a few swings away from shanking if I don't correct it. When I stay behind the ball and rotate correctly my ball flight is high and very straight which makes life a lot easier on my home course where the greens are hard to hold and there is OB everywhere.
  9. Maybe you should think about "turning" or "firing" your hips rotationally instead of sliding. Sliding isn't really what you want.
  10. I've been working a lot of keeping the width in the my swing throughout my backswing into my downswing. I have a tendency to bend my left arm a little at the top of my backswing, and even though its not a huge problem, I definitely notice a difference in impact when I keep it straight. I have a swing aid that's been helping me with this and its called the Swing Extender.
  11. 70 even par. 6 birdies, 6 pars and 6 bogeys. Exciting and frustrating as hell.
  12. After my driver, I had 40 yards left on a 365 yard par 4 from an elevated tee box. I choose my 60 degree wedge and played the ball a bit back in my stance to make sure I made ball first contact. As soon as I hit it, I said to the group that I thought it might hit the pin. But it didn't...lol. It flew straight into the cup without even a bounce.
  13. I believe the easy answer is that the Proforce has a stiffer tip and a higher kick point. I have played both and the Proto is uncontrollable for me, in that it has too much play. I accelerate pretty hard through the ball though so its all about your style and personal preference.
  14. Of course you can think about it. But don't buy any shaft without testing it out. ALL shafts play differently. What's X in one brand is S in another.
  15. Shot a 1 under 69 yesterday. It's been a while since I've done that....I have to honestly give the credit to the swing aid i tried out recently called the Swing Extender. It immediately helped me with a problem I've been having with my left arm. I can't stress enough how important extension is in your golf swing.
  16. I got mine the day before yesterday...spent a few minutes with it....then went out and shot a 1 under 69. LOVE this thing.
  17. I already have my dream set. :) Maybe throw in a Circle T putter...
  18. I'd have to say chipping. My short game is pretty good around the greens.
  19. This is the single BEST training aid i've ever used...PERIOD. I really believe that anybody who plays golf should try this training aid out. I have always struggled with my left arm bending, and while I've still managed to get down to a low-ish handicap, that has more to do with good hand eye coordination than perfect technique. I used this training aid last weekend while in Barbados for a week, as I had been struggling a bit with my game. I used it for 15 minutes, and then went out a shot an ever par round on the Royal Westmoreland course. The score was the least of it. My ball striking INSTANTLY improved considerably. Its hard to imagine that this little thing could help me so quickly with something I've struggled with for so long. I got home a couple of days ago and ordered 2 of them. I figure my friends are going to want to try it out so I bought an extra one.
  20. October will make 3 years. I play 6 days a week.
  21. Sounds like you're not rotating your left shoulder underneath in your turn. Remember your tilt. If you have proper tilt in your setup, you want to turn around your spine angle. If your spine angle changes your not turning properly.
  22. that's hilarious.............but true.....lol
  23. Totally agree with everything you said there. Same for me. Again agreed, except that I like blades in my long irons too, and as I'm not playing to make a living, I will live with the occasional miss. I switch a hybrid in and out with my 3i, but honestly there is nothing sweeter in golf than a pured 3i! I know what you're saying for the most part, but I also used to play the 695cb's and they were great clubs, but there is a huge difference in the top line between them and my 681's. It's all about what you get used to or what your eye really likes to see. Now the 695's look clunky to me. Unless my golf deteriorates I can't see stepping away from my blades.
  24. Shot an even par 71. Played really solid the whole way through, but had a BUNCH of lip-outs on birdie putts. Chipped in for birdie on 18, but it came back out again.
  25. I go to my 3 wood to see and just see how the first few teeshots go. If i'm feeling confident I'll go to my driver. If not, I'll stick with my 3 wood. It's not much shorter anyways.
