Possibly your tee height effecting your driver? I know that when I use the tees at the range it is way too high and I shoot a lob about 100 yards. I ended up taking my knife out there with me and cutting one to the right size that I wanted.

Where do you live? Maybe someone from this board can play with you and verify your awesomeness.

Is there a website that can help select a ball that is right for me? Callaway's website has a little questionnaire that helps you pick which Callaway ball to play. Is there anything like this for all brands? Right now I'm just using whatever I can find and some Titleist balls my dad bought for me. NXT tour and HVC tour. I personally can't really tell a difference. Any suggestions.

Can I assume that I don't suck and don't need these game improvement irons?

When someone pays me to use their clubs then I'll stick to one brand. Until then anything goes. Callaway irons, Titleist wedges, Taylormade driver that I can't hit worth shit. Taylormade hybrid, handmedown Ray cook putter.

I have someone help me with tracking my ball. It makes me not worry about trying to lift my head up and find it.

Not really excited, should I be? Is there anything different from '07? I usually only buy sports games every 2-3 years. This way it actually feels like I'm playing a new game and not the same game with a different cover. Still addicted to TW 2007.

I just recently bought a used set of '04 berthas. They helped my game immediately. They are great clubs for hackers such as myself. They make it so that you don't have to have a perfect swing. I don't plan on taking lessons or trying to be too serious about the game. These clubs serve the purpose of allowing me to play the game. I had an older set of DCI's and I simply could not hit the ball straight.

Dickies shorts and a t-shirt at public courses. I just don't see how playing in jeans is even comfortable. I think you should dress to match the cost of the course you are playing.

Some of you guys seem a little week minded. I won't mess with people but I surely don't mind if someone says something to me. I guess it's because I grew up playing other sports where trash talk was always part of the game.

6 holes almost 2 ****ing hours. We were trying to get in 9 at twilight. We just started to hit into them on the 3rd.

As a beginner you are going to be losing a lot of balls. I bought 100 mixed balls on ebay for $30. Now I just swing free and don't think twice about losing the ball. When I first started I was playing with Titleist NXT. I couldn't stand the thought of throwing away money like that. Just try to hit it straight. Don't worry about distance and spin.

I love this site and this game. One question and 50 different answers. I played again yesterday and had the same problem. My buddies suggested that I was dropping my back shoulder because I was trying to swing too hard. Thanks for the suggestions.

Anything shorter than that and I'm pretty much money. I can hit my 6 iron right around 150 but when I get to my 5 iron I completely chunk the ball and slice it. Even when I hit it right it doesn't seem to go as far as it should. If I could get my 4 and 5 irons working my game would be so much better. My friends keep telling me that I'm lucky my short game is so good because it is usually the hardest to play. Putting is ok and short game is awesome. If I can pull off about 180 straight off the tee I can see myself being pretty decent at this god forsaken game.

I think most people have more trouble with the driver to start. I don't even use mine. 125 yards and in, I'm money, but anything further than that and a good shot is just pure luck.

I can hit my 3 wood farther than my driver. And it is usually pretty straight. I don't even use my driver anymore. I slice the shit out of everything. I'd say that when my driver does go straight at the range it is around 220ish. I'd still rather tee off with my hybrid or a 3.

How much is it to regrip an iron set? I'm looking to buy some used clubs but the grips are pretty beat up. The clubs are cheap because they look bad, but i'm pretty sure with a good cleaning and regrip they'll look good as new.

How much you want for those slings?

So are these bad clubs for a beginner to use? A couple people have recommended big bertha as a good starter set.

I'm new to golf and was recently given my dad's old clubs. They are Titleist DCI's Gold oversize, with stiff flex steel shaft. Every time I play with my buddies who have played for a while they tell me how these clubs are extremely hard to hit. I was looking to get some new clubs but wanted to know if I could even get some trade in value for these clubs. Money isn't exactly flowing in right now. Or should I just stick with these.

What are good times to go golfing alone? I want to be able to play by myself and not be paired up with any strangers. I'm new to the game and want to get in as many rounds as possible. My golfing buddies don't have the flexible schedule that I have.

I voted for Tiger because he is the one I've seen. In all honesty I am not a fan of any golfer. I'm just a fan of the game and love to play it. It's not like other sports where my favorite player is usually on my favorite team. To me golf is all about me and me alone.
